A Good Basic Guide
I like this book, although it is a really basic guide for cap badge collecting of WW2. I am pleased to see that some of the more rare badges are not restrikes or fakes, which gives great credibility to the material presented. The only draw back is there is only one picture of a badge, and only the front. There are no details about variations or restrike/fakes. Bottom line, for the price a good reference.

A modern review of an old subject
After using many reference works on the subject of British Army Badge collecting, over the years, now comes one in glorious colour. All previous works, including Kipling and King, John Gaylor and F Wilkinson used photographs but in black and white. Now the collector can view the colour, patina and tone of the metals used for badge construction. You may think this a minor consideration but with so many fakes on the market, at last, we get to look at what colour our badges should be, without having to visit regimental museums to view the original article. I had suspected that some of my collection were fakes or restrikes and this volume has helped me verify most of them. An excellent study that informs the modern badge collector.

British Army Cap Badges of WW1 and WW2 by Doyle and Foster
These two books by Doyle and Foster are really nice, well set out and simple to use reference books that seem to be the standard works for those interested in the researching regiments and corps of the two world wars and, the interwar years, including women's services. Both containing 120+ pages and colour photos of the badges, they cover pretty much every 'official' regimental badge you're likely to come across along with other interesting explanations. I highly recommend both books as a set.
