Sturdy and Convenient
This heater is a bit fussy to set up because it is three connected units: The heater tube, a temperature sensor you must attach inside the aquarium some distance from the heater, and a control unit that hangs outside the tank. Once you have it set though it works well. It maintains a good steady temperature. It indicates that temperature in glowing red digits, easily seen at a distance, and has another light to show when the heater is on. Since the indicated temperature changes when I change some water I know the temperature shown is water temperature and not just the setpoint that SHOULD be water temperature. That's good to know. When you unplug the unit, as for water changes and such, it resets to a default temperature of 79 deg f. Pushing the temperature set button only raises the temperature setting but no worries; when it gets to the top (which is 96 f) it jumps to the lowest temperature (in the mid 60s if I remember correctly) and starts up from there again.

BEWARE !!
BEWARE! Unit worked for 3 days and then overheated! Bad thermostat not reliable, I lost 6 freshwater tropical fish... Don't spend your money on this product, you can do much better for less money..

Watch temperature with separate thermometer.
Worked good for the first year, but right after the year was up the thermostat setting was reading wrong and kept the heater on almost all the time. I have the thermostat set to 68, the house is usually around 70 so the heater shouldn't turn on much. But I noticed lately it has been on a lot. I got a separate thermometer and the water was close to 90 degrees. More than 20 degrees above set point.

Works perfectly to keep a nice, steady temperature
I've got two of these, one for each of my tanks. They're easy to use and keep the tanks at a nice, steady temp. The default is 79F, so if you keep your tanks at a different temperature, it has to be reset each time the heater is turned off, as after a water change. The resetting is a bit cumbersome, but it seems a small price to pay to not have to struggle with manual settings, which can be so inaccurate.

:/
The temperature sensor doesn't work as well as I'd hoped. It continues to heat the water too much and I have to turn it down only to turn it up again the next day. I have never found a safe water heater that does work as well as it should...

LOVE IT
I have been looking for a heater that will fit the first chamber of the Biocube 29. The height is very limited on this tank. This heater fits on the first chamber nicely. I love it. This is not the first time I use this model. I have the 300 watts for my 125 gallon and I am very happy. I can read the tank temperature and adjust the temperature without my hand getting wet.
