Curt 56172 Multi-Color T-Connector

Perfect fit and easy to install. I inserted some dielelectric grease to prevent corrosion and the snapped together with almost no gap at all. I would have preferred that the wiring extension include the wire for backup lights too. As it is, it currently only provides turn, brake and running wires (4). I had to backtrack and tap the backup light circuit to provide the lighting on the back of my trailer via a relay. Otherwise spot on.

I got this for my 2017 Ford Police Utility, aka explorer. I bought an Amazon open package so there were no instructions, but a quick YT lookup was all I needed. Took about 5 minutes to install and 10 more to secure it via zip ties to my hitch. I got a little tester from a local hardware store to test the lights. Works exactly as it should. The connection is right and secure to the vehicle and the wires are thick and sturdy. Would recommend.

Plug and play is the way to go! The install is so easy you can definitely do it yourself. Fit my 2014 Explorer base perfectly. I tried to test that it worked before full installation by just plugging it in, (driving up to uhaul because i thought my phase tester wasn't working) neither worked. Heads up - it wont work until its grounded! Silly me. so once i grounded it to the car, an easy process, I attached all of the wiring mostly to the top of the hitch and away from the exhaust and it worked perfectly. Way to go Ford for installing a wiring plug at the rear of the vehicle (even the ones without factory tow package.)

I had originally purchased this for my 2015 Ford Explorer to tow my new FlagStaff 206LTD pop up camper. Make sure you check the type of plug in your trailer or what you plan on towing before buying this. What I found was many new trailers like my camper come with a 7way plug where this is a static 4way. Other trailers still use 4 way like my neighbors boat trailer. I wanted something that would work with both 7 way and if needed easily adapt to a 4 way if my neighbor needed help. To make this item CURT 56172 work with a 7 way plug you'll need to also buy CURT 57184. I instead removed this and replaced it with CURT 56278 and purchased the adapter plug CURT 57240. Doing this leaves the harness fully hardwired for a 7 way plug but lets me downsize to the 4 way if/when needed. It's a little bit cheaper if you go this route then the other. Either one will let you tow 4 and 7 way plug trailers. Always make sure you remove that adapter when you're not using it. This way nobody steals it and/or it doesn't fall out when driving. I'm happy with my purchase but ultimately replaced it with something else from the same manufacturer.

Easy to install. Just plug in and go. Watched a couple curt youtube videos and did exactly as they instructed.

Product quality great but noted install issue. Install location is direct in line of fire from debris off of right rear tire. Weather-tite wire bundle might help with product longevity.
