Northern DIY Springs for Avocet Door Handles (2 Springs Plus 2 Circlips)

Perfect fit to replace broken springs and circlips in an Avocet Type B upvc door handle (I didn't realise the springs had gone until the circlip broke and I opened my handle.So the pack with both in is perfect. £8 is reasonable. You can buy 300 circlips for £10 and 300 springs for £10 in megapacks..but I just wanted 2 of each. Perfect!The pictures on here and their website show you what to do.1. Unscrew your door handle and set it aside and clean out any metal dust2. Wear eye protection and remove the circlip (if not broken like mine was) carefully using circlip pliers (worth every penny of £6)3. Remove the cam which catches on the spring when you rotate the handle, note that the pokey out bits face INTO the handle not toward you.4. Remove the spring (both mine were broken on each side)5. Replace the spring as shown in the picture here (it's for a different handle but the idea is the same). You have to stretch the spring apart so it is 10 past and 20 past with the handle at 15 past in normal position.6. replace the cam. Push this on and test that turning the handle springs it back7. use the circlip pliers to open the clip enough to get it over the handle until it's aligned with the groove, you might need to just get it on the shaft then nudge it in to place in the groove with a screwdrivers.Done! (Repeat on the other side to have nice new springy handles that don't fall off!

My uPVC door levers were in a sad state, the springs fractured - these replacements were fitted in minutes, all good now.

Purchased as looked like the right dimension spring for our French door handles. The spring had broken and made using the doors difficult. After taking apart and measuring all looked good. New spring arrived in very quick time and fitted in 10 minutes by self. perfect fit and works well. If doing this yourself please make sure you use circlip pliers to remove and refit the circlip as if you do not you will either bend the clip and make it useless or even worse it could fly up and possibly strike you in the eye. Wear glasses.

Spring is not made from the right steel. The shape of the spring change as the strain is applied.

Easy to fit, if you got circlip pliers, expensive in my eyes, ,,,using spring as a pattern made four more out of 18g piano wire to replace springs in my other Avocet handles thats gone weak.
