Solid choice with good performance
I recently got the freestanding Cosmo kitchen hood, and it’s been working well so far. It looks clean, does a good job with smoke and smells, and isn’t too loud but not very quiet either . Installation was easy, and the lights are helpful while cooking. Overall, a solid and practical choice, the only downside is taking off those blue protectors sticks that are nighttime and I still weren’t able to get all of it off.

Great looking hood
Nice unit that looks great and functions well. It was packaged extremely well and everything was protected with a tough blue film. Some complain about the fan sound, but I found it to be no louder than other exhaust fans I've owned over the years. The instructions overlooked the need for a 1-1/4" hole you have to cut through the support bracket so the electric plug can get into the attic. The hardest part for my installation was the required framing in the attic. Many people complain about removing the blue protective film. I used a fresh sharp razor to cut into the groove on each side of the chimney, followed by a sharp dental tool to scrap it out. It took about 30 minutes. I have an 8' ceiling. I cut the two chimney pieces 11-1/2" long which gave me 36" to the cooktop. I'm very pleased with the purchase and you can't beat the price.

House looks newer, cheaper solution to Jenn aire down draft replacement stove
Replaced a 30 year old down draft Jenn aire slide in stove with a whirlpool smooth top slide in stove. Needed a light and ventilation over stove top. Researched found island hoods solve my situation. A new jenn aire downdraft oven is over $4,000 and ventilation for new may need to be reengineered for new jenn aire. Bought a smooth top whirlpool slide in for $600 and vent for $400. Power is a plug in cord, not hard wired. May be installed ventilated or not ventilated using filters. Now I have ventilation and led lights over my stove top to cook. Only frustrating part installing was to remove blue film used to protect the finish until installed. Remove film before installation. One area I was unable to confirm before purchase, will shaft be long enough for 10' ceiling. Works for 10' ceiling, no issues. Little noisy on high, has a strong suction to remove cooking fumes and humidity. Vents removable and dishwasher safe.

Simple install
I got the all-metal one, my brother has the glass one and hates it cuz he walks into all the time. Also the glass one is ugly. 🙃 Anyhow. It's a relatively simple install, I installed a couple 2x4s between joists in the attic to hang it from, it has drywall anchors and screws but that would be ridiculously janky IMHO. Also, if you have an 8 foot ceiling you'll have to trim the chimney (which I did with a cutoff wheel) or it'll be pretty low. Unmodified, it would've been 24" above the stovetop which looked weird and would be annoying to cook under (I mounted mine at 30"). But it'd be perfect for 10' ceilings, and otherwise it goes together easily, is definitely good quality, and it looks great! Very happy with it. I am currently using it un-ducted with just the charcoal filters and it is very effective getting rid of smoke. 👍

My contractor told me this was for "new construction"...
Final product looks great, works perfectly! But my contractor complained that it was supposed to be for "new construction only." more on that in a bit.... I have 10' ceilings and the extensions allowed us to bring the hood down to 36" above my cooktop, which is the max allowable height to meet code where I live. I think that's a pretty good height range. If you want 24" above your stove, you'll need to have 9' ceilings or lower. The fit and finish is good. The touchscreen is responsive and works well enough. I'm actually surprised that the price is so low considering how much of the cost must be in the stainless steel and other materials alone. So I'm not picky about the screen, just happy that it responds well. One thing (nit pick) that I don't like is you have to sort of "wake it up" by holding the power button for two seconds before you can turn on the light or fan. But if the lights or fan are already on, it responds instantly to any buttons (no wake up needed). So the only possible negative is that my contractor told me this is for "new construction only" because he had to fish wood supports up into the ceiling to mount this. But from what I've read (and YouTube videos I've watched), that's pretty normal even for non-new construction. Overall I'd buy it again, even for existing construction.

Good Budget Range Hood - Some caveats
Overall the product is exactly what we were looking for, or so I thought. It is a great-looking range hood, the same size as our existing one, which we replaced, and it had a touch screen and no buttons. We needed to replace our existing range hood because the buttons stopped working, so I went looking for a replacement with no buttons. I should have had more criteria. It is a very nice unit with some good specs, but I did not do my proper research on what I was replacing. Our current vent hood had an 8-inch duct; this one has a 6-inch duct. The current one has removable stainless steel valences that cover the hanging mechanism. This one does NOT. This is probably my biggest complaint and what made the installation so difficult. To install the Range hood, you must "stack" the two chimney valences, which caused some scratching on the bottom one. Additionally, they are too long to allow for proper installation. There is no way to secure the fan blower unit with all 16 screws and have the valences on unless you have very high ceilings. We have 9 ft ceilings, and the screw holes are 8 inches apart. The valences covered the top screw holes, but I could not raise them enough to allow the top screws to be installed. Maybe I am an idiot and would appreciate any feedback from anyone who was able to secure it with all of the screws. At this point, I would NOT recommend this device; spend a little more and get a better quality device. Get a hardwired one that doesn't have LED lights (these are very blue) and has removable valences. This unit is nice, quiet, and came packaged well. But leaves a lot to be desired.

It's ok but some tips...
It was the cheapest island fan i could find online, but there are some things to note: 1. You need to make a sturdy wood frame to hold the fan on the ceiling in your attic 2. Don't use the screws that come with the fan, use stronger screws when joining the mount plate to your wood frame 3. The protective film is very difficult to peel off and left some marks. I used goo gone and rub it off. I've seen other reviewers with the same issues. 5. I have a low ceiling and managed to make it work without cutting anything but its better for tall ceilings. 6. I really recommend using two people to lift the fan and bolt it to the chimney. I used the box to prop it up and hold it to bolt it together. 7. SHARP EDGES USE GLOVES!!! Overall its an ok fan, but build quality isn't the best, the baffle grills are slightly crooked but its not noticeable on the bottom. There are two clocks and they don't sync which is kinda annoying. I give this a 3/5 fan since it still looks decent.
