SteamPure Countertop Water Distiller

UPDATE: 2/5/19 Still running great after 5 years! Still distilling 2 gallons a day. Had one issue which was that dust built up on the cooling coils. The water was coming out warm, even hot, instead of more room temperature. The company was very helpful responding to questions as to why this was happening. Took the top and backside panels off. Gave it a good cleaning with compressed air and it was back up an running with no problem! I have no doubt this unit will run for at least 5 more years (with the occasional dust cleaning). UPDATE: 3/31/17 The unit is still running like a champ! Not a single problem. Still distilling 2 gallons a day without trouble. Only modification I did was add a tube from the drain spout to run into the sink. There was a couple times that I thought the valve was closed completely and it was not, water all over the counter. My fault, not the machine. Although this is the only distiller I have owned, it is a great product. I did my research before buying it. I have had no trouble with it and have used for a few months. I distill 2 gallons a day. It distills almost 1 gallon at a time. I do not wait for it too cool down to refill. I am just careful of the steam when I am opening it. The water is exactly what is should be. No taste, no nothing at all! I use white vinegar to clean the distiller. I use vinegar full strength up to the heating elements overnight, then fill the rest of it with water (with the vinegar still in) and let it sit for a few hours. We have very hard well water and the deposits build up pretty thick on the heating elements, but it comes out sparkling clean. I clean it about 2 weeks.

-1 for misspelling the name of the product. "Stainlsee/Stainless" Anyways, I looked at reviews all over the internet on and off Amazon and decided this was the best distiller. I've been drinking distilled for years, and decided it was time to stop buying it and just make it myself. So I bought this one, unpacking was great. It came pre-tested from the factory, so there was a small water line in the boiler chamber. This was all mentioned in the documentation. It was clear to setup and sterilize for the first time. The first batch needs to be tossed out, as per the instructions. The second batch I had a nice big cup of. Its important when drinking to drink at room temperature to experience the full effect. Drinking ice cold water numbs the mouth, and you sometimes miss any aftertaste or undissolved solids in water. I was pleased this distiller had none of those. It tasted crisp, smooth, and tasteless, just the way quality water should. If you're buying a distiller for home, this is the one to buy. Only recommendation I would make is make sure to buy additional water jars (always glass). You'll want to keep the distiller busy while you drink away!

I purchased this product Made in America, Stainless Steel, in hopes of getting a quality product. Not!! The first year the Heating Element burst. After contacting the factory they informed me it would cost me $50 for the part. I received a defective part. After much back and forth futility with the factory I sent my unit back and they sent me a bent one, but it worked. Till recently...and the problem is? A bad Heating Element...I know...Cha Ching. $50 Now I'm faced with going through this grueling banter with customer service or taking my chances on a competitors product. The Heating Element appears to be a real quality issue with this unit...buyer beware

NEW DISTILLER: I purchased this distiller about 2 weeks ago, and it's awesome. At first the water had a sulfuric smell. Don't panic if this happens. Although no one has commented about this for this distiller, I sort-of anticipated that this was a possibility because I read online reviews for other distillers where people had the same issue. Per the advice of reviewers for other distillers, I rinsed, cleaned with water and vinegar (soft cloth), sterilized, and then purified about 6 gallons before the sulfuric smell went away. Instructions for rinse, clean, and sterilize are all in the manual. DOES IT WORK? We live in Florida, so we have extremely hard water that is of poor quality (I know right...so THAT'S what's wrong with everyone in Florida ;). We live in an area that is heavily agricultural, so we also fear there is a lot of pesticide and fertilizer in the water. In our city, the tap water smells heavily chlorinated (like it came straight in from a swimming pool), and we have on occation gotten letters in the mail saying they are obligated to inform us the water didn't meet quality standards. The distiller does it's job because the water tastes and smells odorless after it goes through the distiller. The distilled water does not leave a white scale residue in the bottom of our stainless steel ice cube trays like our filtered tap water did. I am confident that I am not drinking chlorine, fluoride, and who knows what else. It's great! WHY THIS DISTILLER?: I have never owned any others, but looked at many online. At first I was looking at the cheaper plastic ones from several other companies. I didn't like the idea that they kept burning until the water was completely gone, as some people mentioned it's a fire hazard, and others have said they burn through the plastic and water gets onto the electrical wiring. The plastic ones have gotten mostly good reviews, but I tend to not discount negative reviews just because a product has 4+stars (if a lot of people are saying the same thing and it's a legitimate concern) because I have had bad experiences where I went back and wished I took the negative reviews more seriously (I'm looking at you, Izunami flat iron). If you're buying a product that is mixing electricity and water, a stainless steel product that stops heating before the water burns off completely makes more sense (and this is the cheapest one on the market). I haven't owned it long, but I feel really confident about this product and hope to have it for many years to come. Add to it the fact that it's made in the USA and I say you can't beat this product!! ***UPDATE*** 6 months later, and I'm still loving this distiller! A couple of things to consider about drinking distilled water full-time: ALKALINITY: Some people will say distilled water is alkaline. Scientifically, that is true if you don't factor in the air that touches it and reacts with it (similar to how an object in motion will remain in motion. It's true in space, but not in reality because of air resistance). In reality it will have to touch the air, and when it does, chemical reactions occur. Distilled water is unstable and it bonds with the carbon dioxide in the air and forms carbonic acid. This means your distilled water is very acidic. If you add 1/8 teaspoon of BAKING SODA to 1 gallon of distilled, it will put the PH level around 7 (neutral). Otherwise, the water will test very acidic, like under 6 (my tap registered very high almost 8 and the distilled was lower than 6 very acidic, yes, I bought some PH water testing strips). The baking soda puts it exactly between pure distilled and tap. It's a simple fix, it just takes 1/8 teaspoon per gallon and the acidity is corrected. I can verify that this works, and it's a negligible amount of sodium added. MINERALS: I have also begun adding concentrace mineral drops to the water so that the water doesn't leach too many beneficial minerals from my body. That was the only other concern I've heard about distilled water. The concentrace tastes a bit funny, but I believe I now have the safest healthiest water possible. I am very satisfied! CHLORINE: To further prove the distiller is necessary, I also tested my water for chlorine with my parent's pool water test kit. My TAP water's chlorine levels were so high they tested "ideal" for pool water (Bright yellow with the drops). That's a lot of chlorine! My distilled water's test results showed absolutely no chlorine at all (completely clear with the drops) :) I can attest that this distiller will truly remove all chlorine from your water. Still loving this distiller! Update March. 2015 This past March 2015 the heating element went out (disappointing, because I'm not a constant user of the unit. I use it off and on). They sent us a new heating element (under warranty). We had to pay for shipping but not the element. When my husband was installing it, he tightened the bolt too tight and it broke the soldering, so we had to send the whole unit in (we had to pay shipping both ways for that also). In the end, it ended up costing over $100 for the heating element repair in shipping costs alone. I'm wondering if they have some advice on how to make the heating element last longer.
