Just amazing..
Just amazing...you have to experience the Game of Thrones phenomenon yourself, even knowing the spoilers and what is to come does not dull the impact from this great show. The only "negative" I can think of are the sex scenes, as they sometimes get in the way of the story (to me) and make it kind of awkward to watch with friends/family, but I get why they are there, this show demonstrates the human element, so it brutally let's viewers see the heights of it's greatness and the depths of its wickedness. So, every aspect of what makes us human including our sexuality is explored and shown (graphically) but it does not feel exploitative to me. In other words, the disturbing violence and adult themes (incest, rape, murder, prostitution, etc) are not presented merely for shock value but to highlight how the characters respond to these injustices as the victims and as the perpetrators. Some might feel angered by certain characters dying ***SPOILERS***i.e. Rob Stark, his wife, his mother, the Starks in general (not the luckiest bunch eh?)but that is part of what makes this show brilliant, it plays with our expectations and serves as a deconstruction of the medieval fantasy genre. For example, I never thought I could ever, even for a moment root for a character like Jaime Lannister, that is, until what I say him face this season and last. Granted, I am not sure if the deconstruction aspects were intentional by the original author, he may have just wanted to write a great story but I can't tell you how many times I have been surprised with how expertly the show manages to show you that no one is truly good, they just have an agenda and rules they are comfortable with, some (the Lannisters) are more...ah hem...let's just say "comfortable"...doing whatever it takes to further their power, whereas others limit themselves and the show genuinely shows what happens when the honorable face evil doers with clout. This doesn't diminish the beauty of trying to be an honorable person but merely realistically shows the consequences.

Almost as good as Season 1
Season 3 develops and expands themes and plots. I was disappointed in season 2 as it seemed too complex, with too many short-scripted plots. At least in season 3, some of those plots are more comprehensible. The power of Kalisi is expanding as well as her humanity. I fear for Sansa, who doesn't seem to have the hutzpa to protect herself...hopefully she will "get smart". Jon Snow's part seems to be fading in the early episodes of season 3, wonder what will become of him? Movement and consolidation of kingdoms towards a common enemy seems to be moving in that direction. Still, there is quite a lot of confusion with so many kingdoms. Love the locations, scenery, costumes and cinematography. The programs appear to have cost a lot to set up. In the long run, I think this program (Seasons 1,2,3 will be among my classic collection). I have season 4 but have not watched it yet. May go back to season 2 for clarification before advancing. Still, I remain disappointed in the porno as it does not advance the stories and seems unnecessarily distracting to the progress of themes and plots. (Not in the books as my grand child has told me.)

She liked it I guess because she watched all of it.

1 Year Later...
Great series, great season, but honestly why does it take SOOO long to get this on Amazon? Amazon, can't you persuade HBO to put their content on here like every other network? Cable TV is dying and internet streaming is killing it (thankfully).By not releasing their content to anyone but cable TV subscribers HBO is giving most 20 and 30 something year old's only one option: illegally download Game of Thrones as it comes out because HBO will not allow internet users a legal means of accessing the content until it is all played out, talked about, literally a year after it aired on TV.I post this on Amazon because I always buy Game of Thrones seasons on Amazon as soon as it's available. There is just no reason why it should take SOO long. Amazon please convince HBO that they have a huge untapped customer base here in your video streaming service.Edit 12/10/2014: Well, it seems this sentiment finally made its way to the right set of ears as HBO has made an announcement in the last couple of months that they'll finally be providing an online service that does not require a cable subscription. Win for good, honest customers who have been wanting to watch their series as legal active viewers online.

Absolutely rivetingly brilliant.
If you’re looking at reviews of season three then it is inevitable that you’re already captivated by this epic masterpiece of TV fantasy. We re-watched seasons one and two as a bit of essential preparative revision and have, as with previous seasons, watched this one twice back-to-back. A second viewing is essential, especially as we have a whole raft of new characters, to really get to enjoy the fiendish complexity of the interwoven narrative threads. Some very minor spoilers follow in the next paragraph…The seven kingdoms of Wersteros become ever more disparate as the civil war continues with Rob Stark leading the men of the North against the unspeakable King Joffrey while nobody is paying any attention to events north of the wall with Jon Snow as the Wildlings head south against the inexorable approach of winter and concomitant White Walkers. At the same time, Daenerys with attendant splendid dragons is trying to raise an army to help restore the Targaryen throne while Stannis licks his metaphorical wounds and falls further under the thrall of the red witch. That just covers the main story arcs. Add into that mix Arya’s journey and the Brotherhood Without Banners, Jamie Lannister & Brienne and Bran’s very separate quests, the ascendancy Margaery Tyrell and, as ever, the irrepressibly brilliant Tyrion and the improbably likeable Varys hold King’s Landing together as things are not all sweetness and light in the house of Lannister. There is just so much going on in so many places that it is impossible to grasp all of the subtleties even after a second viewing. Just for a change, there is a really useful Blu-ray special feature – the ‘in episode guide’ allows you to see who is doing what where; really handy on the first viewing with so many new characters to keep track of.With a lot of getting from A to B and a lack of set piece scenes, this season gives the feeling of getting all of the chess pieces in the right place ready for a tumultuous fourth season. That’s not to say, however, that there aren’t more than a few surprises along the way. Well done, again, HBO – splendid stuff.

Gigantischer Epos
Einfach herrlich, was da vollbracht wurde.
