My flushometer currently has a A-36-A diaphragm kit in it.I am looking to make it more economical.Will the A-38-A do so?Lower the standing water level

Yes, except for the vacuum breaker, and anything below that. Also the shut off itself, which may or may not need replacement.

Be careful - get the right flow capacity

Originally ordered Sloan Valve A-1101-A Royal Performance Kit for Water Closet/Toilet. Unfortunately it did not mention that kit comes with a 1.6 gallon, low consumption valve which was insufficient for our older model toilet - over 25 years old. Then ordered the 3.5 gallon Valve separately which works just fine.
