Wow! Just wow
I don't have words to describe the emotions this book evoked. Like dug into my chest and pull on my heart, emotions. I felt despair, sadness, happiness, deep abiding love, I FELT IT ALLHenna + Bodhi......Bodhi + Henna, a forever kind of loveWho meet at Coachella and fall in love in 24 hours and I'm not the insta love kind of girl, can't impress me, convince me, but I was also in love, with their love.Fast forward a few months, and they are Guidance Counselor and student, Mr. Malone and Ms Lane, illicit and naughty, v-card taken but still so beautifulBut real life intervenes, hard decisions taken and Henna goes off to "live" her dream. And it was heartbreakingBut Henna comes back and it's beautiful but real life intervenes, hard decisions and it's doubly heartbreakingBecause they can either do the right thing OR love each other but they can't do bothOR CAN THEY?Just WOW!

Love, sacrifice and life lessons
4.5 stars. In typical Jewel Ann style, right off the bat there's a heroine who is bold and sassy with a bit of a reckless or rebellious attitude. Henna Lane doesn't sweat the small stuff after surviving an experience that taught her to live her life to the fullest. She's all about adventure and exploration as well as giving into a good time. Bodhi comes along like an unassuming surfer cowboy with rock band musical tastes and it's like an instant electric zap to Henna. Their exchanges were really cute and flirty with an undertone of sweet. Henna comes on really strong and although Bodhi doesn't seem to mind, he's already noticing there's some stark differences between he and Henna, but welcomes the reprieve from his daily life that she provides for him.I wouldn't say this was an overly angsty story like some of Jewel Ann's other books, although there are some moments that are ulcer inducing. There are moral dilemmas woven throughout the plot that gave me pause as to what was the right thing to do. That was already enough to give me some reader anxiety about where this story was going to go and when Henna or Bodhi would make the wrong decisions. But is it wrong when it's born out of love for another person? Henna, for all of her vibrant youthfulness, is in fact young, but there are moments when her maturity speaks volumes over her actual age. As for Bodhi, he is mature, but he's also very burdened by a past that he can't let go of because it affects him in the present. My heart squeezed hard for him and what he was dealing with. As humans, it's impossible to make the right decision the first time every time. But what matters is righting the wrongs afterwards and learning the lesson to be a better person to avoid such costly mistakes again.I really loved Bodhi and Henna’s relationship although I was a little slower than them to catch up with their intense level of chemistry, it was like a jump off the diving board into the abyss with no hope of return when read from Henna's POV. I adored Bodhi, he's the tender hearted conflicted hero whose personal wants war with his responsibilities. Yet he can't help but want what Henna has to offer. There's a sensitive issue towards the end that really highlighted how people have differing opinions on what is the right thing to do and puts relationships to the test, because ultimately, it is selfish on each party's behalf, and that a person in a position with very little choices still wants to make their own final choice. I appreciated how this section was portrayed and my favorite part was everything that came afterward. There was no way I could have predicted how this story was going to go based on the blurb so the surprises revealed kept me engrossed and the character journey was inspiring.

Loved this
Yet another angst filled romance story from Jewel E Ann that I just loved. Her characters always have the best, unique chemistry and such great dialogue together.Henna and Bodhi were no exception. The instant connection they attract leads them down an unforgettable love story. And although the story led down a path I did not expect, I still loved this. It’s about selflessness, about growth and pain and, of course, about two people meant for one another.

A rainbow of emotions
What a fantastic book this is! I read most of it chuckling to myself and grinning from ear to ear. It’s clear from the start that Henna and Bodhi were made for each other. Their smouldering chemistry is electric and the sparks fair fly off the page from their first meeting. I’ve got to say, their make out sessions were so hot, they had me fanning myself. They are equally matched in relation to the wit and flirty banter, although Henna is clearly in the driving seat when it comes to her pursuit of Bodhi and I was right there rooting for her. There was a warmth to Henna that just drew me to her and I can honestly say I loved everything about her. She’s a fantastic young woman, a force of nature, a free spirit, with a lust for life and adventure. Strong, yet a touch vulnerable at times, she has developed coping strategies to help her deal with the realities of life which make her sassy and forthright, if not a little fatalistic. I found her hugely endearing. Bodhi is a little damaged but not completely broken, despite carrying some burdens of his own. His time with Henna allows him to breathe and during those moments we have an unobstructed view of the real man behind the responsibilities. I, for one, loved what I saw.Their path, of course, is not a straightforward one and it wouldn’t be a Jewel E. Ann book without there being some challenges along the way. It’s one of the many things I applaud her for. When things take a more serious turn for this couple, and Henna finds herself between a rock and a hard place, once again this author deals with the subject matter in a respectful, not a sensational way, whilst we as readers are left in no doubt as to the emotional toll this takes on all concerned. This author’s stories are so multifaceted, you always need to prepare for the unexpected. A Place Without You is no exception. I admire the way Jewel never shies away from difficult subjects and is always prepared to give her characters a voice. They are allowed free reign to be who they need to be, flaws and all, to grow and mature in ways which are real and relatable. Bodhi and Henna’s story is hugely engaging, deliciously sensual, full of personality, sprinkled liberally with clever phrasing and the kind of humour that keeps the quirky side of me thoroughly entertained.Real emotions, a rainbow of emotions in fact, real dilemmas and decisions make this a wonderful, thought provoking read. I loved it.

10 fabulous shining emotional stars !!!!
This book; gah my poor heart has been put through the ringer once again by this amazing author Jewel E Ann. Every book I has read by her has taken me on a difference journey, one that I wouldn't have missed for the world. Her words and thoughts and how she projects them into a story for us the reader never ceases to amaze me, I adore her work.Bodhi and Henna, Henna and Bodhi what amazing characters they are. Henna is a strong young girl at nineteen who meets Bodhi at Coachella where the chemistry is obvious from the start. Their attraction is smoldering hot just bubbling all the time on the back burner until it explodes from all the heat of their attraction. She is an uncomplicated young lady who is strong in character, loyal with a big heart and knows exactly what she wants from life, Henna is a free spirit that Bodhi can't resist; but he has bigger problems to fry. He's still dealing with the guilt from a past incident that still has repercussions to this present day. His life is so different from Henna's; and yet they are pulled together like giant magnets. I so enjoyed this build up of their relationship, it was potent and sexy, funny and enjoyable, and then their was the emotion that poured from everyone in this book in gallons, so beautifully written by Jewel .Honestly this book is just magnificent in every way possible. The warmth of the family units, the chemistry between the two of them, some unexpected twists that make your heart jump into your throat, addictive charismatic characters and that emotion, yes lots and lots and lots of emotion, sometimes so overwhelming you wonder if your heart can take it all. Let me tell you it is worth every missed beat, every rip my heart out moment and all that helped to put it back together again. Truly phenomenal work !!!!" No matter where I am on this earth, I'm loving you --- forever" Ahh be still my beating heart !!!!!

Meraviglioso
