Cross fountain pen is Synonymous with Quality
I can understand 4 stars, but the one I got is an easy 5 stars and I have gotten 4 star and even 3 star pens from Cross. Pen is a work horse of a Ball point pen. The only pen I would rank higher than Cross is a Waterman ball point pen aka Waterman Expert II Black Lacquer Gold Trim Retractable Ballpoint. Waterman writes smooth right out of the box. Cross Sterling Silver pen was an instant classic to me right out of the box with stunning color not as dull as the picture on website and good writing pen. Exactly what I was looking for based on past experience with Cross pens. My dad had classic 10 Karat gold pen as long as I could remember and I now own both silver and gold (a combination even Yukon Cornelius would love aka Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer). My 1st fountain pen was a plastic cross fountain pen I bought in office supply store in Morganton, NC. That pen rival's my Delta Dolcevita fountain pen (Italian Pen sold on Colorado Pen Direct) at $476.00 (Retail Price is $595.00).Cross is synonymous with good quality at a reasonable price.Fountain Pen is sold on website: [...].

Great Pen!
I always wanted a good fountain pen and so I decided to purchase this and upon receiving it I was thrilled! The pen has a nice feel in my hand. It is a bit slim and slippery when you hold it so for some people it might not feel right. When using the pen the ink flows smoothly and I do love how it writes. I am using it with the ink cartridge that came with it but I hope to order the refillable cartridge from cross and use it with the ink bottle which is what I prefer. This is a great pen and I would recommend this to anyone who loves fountain pens at a good price!

Probably good but the fine nib isn't fine.
I'm not really sure how many stars to check it is probably a nice and functional pen like my old Cross Century. After a number of years I pulled out and started using my Cross Century but quickly realized that I would like to replace its medium nib with a fine nib. Unfortunately it was discontinued and replacement nibs are not available. So I bought this Century II with a fine nib. It seems that Cross's definition of fine and medium has changed over the years and I found that this new fine nib was quite broad compared to the old medium nib. So after giving Cross a change to adjust the nib, I ended up returning the Century II and the converter I also bought with it to Amazon.com.

Good fountain pen (but slim and matte)
This is a very good fountain pen for its price. It's wet enough, it writes right away after you ink it, and it doesn't seem to skip even in a quick signature. Do note that, for Cross, "classic black" means "matte black": this is not a typical lacquer-finished black pen. Other than that, the Cross Century II writes better that the Parker Sonnet Lacquer Fine Point Fountain Pen with Golden Trim, Black (1743579), even if the latter costs $15-$20 more. Still, the Cross Century is a really slim and small pen, whereas most fountain pen aficionados prefer larger pens. If so, look into the Waterman Perspective Black w/ Gold Fine Point Fountain Pen - 1750131 or the Cross Townsend Black Lacquer 23Karat Gold Appointments Fountain Fine 18Karat Gold Nib, for instance, but these two are more expensive.

I chose this Cross pen because I love the Classic Cross ballpoints
First of all, the pen came with one cartridge instead of two.I chose this Cross pen because I love the Classic Cross ballpoints. I'll using it as my daily pen. My favorite fountain pen ever is the Parker 75. Because it's precious to me I'm super careful with it. I thought I'd buy one that I wasn't too attached to and wouldn't be upset if something happened to it.I just received the pen and started writing with it. For the price it's fine. So far no leaks. I was disappointed at the plastic grip it has. If you look closely you'll notice it in the photo. It's not a very heavy pen. If you need to write with weight to it, I suggest keeping the cap on.And what is it with the tiny cartridge that Cross makes? I mean, it's ridiculous. I wrote 2 pages and I'm already halfway done. I find it really curious that fountain pens generally have long barrels yet manufacturers make small cartridges for them.Do I regret the purchase? Haven't had it long enough to decide. Aesthetically it's very neat looking. Classic indeed. Matte black with gold trim. I don't think I will regret it.

Cross Century II Fountain Pen
Pen arrived within a week. Looks great. I'm using the ink cartridge, which was easy to install. The cap fits tightly when in use and not in use. I purchased the fine tip, which looks like a normal pen size on paper, exactly what I hoped for. The size of the barrel is about right, not too thin or wide. The flat black looks good and it has a good non-slip feel. The flow of ink is perfect. I purchased the pen to learn how to write again, which I'm thoroughly enjoying.

Wonderful!
The best fountain pen ice owned in years. I paid attention to reviews and went with a gold tip. It writes beautifully, no smudging or flow problems. Feels good in my hand, too. It's such a pleasure to use and a treat to own.
