A Bardon Companion: A practical companion for the student of Franz Bardon's system of Hermetic initiation

One star for each element, plus the fifth element, akasha : )
This book...where does one begin. In how much this work has helped to guide myself and so many others in our progress, I am overwhelmed with how I could adequately give this book a taste of justice for the sweet fruit that it bears. For starters, this is the greatest reference book that I own along side Franz Bardon's books themselves. However, this work deciphers and even challenges Bardon in ways that are not only helpful, yet vital. This is especially true in the step five work when Rawn suggests when one should proceed with the physical portion of training, also providing insight into how to make that section even more of a success by going even further into the practice itself. To continue along, his Step 6 material is immensely valuable in describing the correct application of each schooling, along with revealing important additions that make the practice just shine with effectiveness. If I had simply been doing these steps without Rawns book, I would have wasted a lot of time figuring things out, that instead was well spent having taken his advice and as a result, practicing correctly. In other words, Mr. Clark fills up the potholes, to make for a smoother, more balanced ride, also maintaining that if Bardon already said it perfectly clear before, that no road work is needed, if you will. He provides the correct approaches to take, time and time again, whilst elaborating on any important details left out of the original source. This book also provides exercises created by Rawn Clark that add to the work and deepen ones understanding of self. This book truly is what it says it is. A companion. I feel like Rawn Clark is really there sometimes, guiding the aspirant through the work : ) Therefore, I have come to the conclusion, as I finish writing the review for this book and my cat leaps off of the book itself (my other companion) that I would consider this book an actual requirement to master Bardon's volumes and would recommend a physical copy over anything else.

It's a COMMENTARY
First and foremost if you are going to use this book alongside IIH then it should be very clear to you from the very start that this is a commentary. When reading it, know that you are reading from someone else who has experienced the contains of the Bardon books and if you allow their opinions to affect you then that is your choice. To me this book is at the very least thought provoking and mind expanding. When you read this work by Rawn Clark, you will see that it comes from deep thought and practical application. Not only does it contain two versions of his commentary in which you get to see how his wisdom and knowledge have deepened in the interval years between the two versions but also a list of correspondents in which you get to see what problems other practitioners ran into and how Rawn helped shift their perceptions so that they could understand it from an angle that would help them to progress.Rawn very clearly makes the point that you really don't need any commentary, especially for those above step 4. Yet he writes a commentary for all of the steps so that those who want to gain an intellectual understanding of whats ahead can form a picture of it. Secondly, he brings people's attention back to the fact that Bardon specifically asks you to meditate, Meditate and MEDITATE on everything in IIH and all of the obstacles you might encounter therefore making this commentary an excellent supplement for that. And lastly, my experience of this book is that he wrote it with the intention that he save you time from getting hung up on stumbling your way through the dark. Offering you sign posts to know if you are progressing or need to experiment further into a certain step so that your ascent can be all the smoother. So if you are looking for a second opinion from someone who was done the work and can give it to you in a way that is well written, then you will find it in this book.

Yes another 5 star
I found it almost silly being another person to give this book a 5 star rating... However it is really an essential work for the serious student pursuing Bardon's work. I don't consider myself a master yet but this book has put me on a path of success with this work. My only complaint is that the organization could have been better. Once you get the hang of how to book is organized it awesome full of great insights and detailed explanations. These are greatly needed as Bardon's own explanations in certain sections is a bit thin. I look forward to making it all the way through IIH and I think with this book in hand I will be able to accomplish the task.

It is a wonderful companion to Franz Bardon's
It is a wonderful companion to Franz Bardon's, "Initiation into Hermetics." I find it easier to understand. The exercises are explained in more detail. I will use both books extensively as I become more involved in Hermetics.

For me a must read along side Bardon
This book was a real game changer. Of my entire collection of instructional plain English mystical books, Initiation into Hermetics was always a challenge for me. This book has been great aid. I’m not entirely done with it yet; though I already know it was a good buy.

An excellent assistant!
Really helps to make sense of some of the material for those who live in a different time than the original author did. A worthy investment if you are having any difficulty with the Bardon system!
