Love This Set Very Much...
These tracks are all UK Fontana-issued singles from 1958 to 1962. They are all taken from either vinyl 45rpms, or 33.3 albums, or by the sound of one or two of them, 78rpm shellacs. Given the age of the vinyl, remastering really worn records like many are on this set leave a lot to be desired. The interest though outweighs the remastering. These singles, in whatever form, come from an era where many British labels licenced American recordings for issue of which many can be found here, including one or two from the very early 1950s. A kindly soul has posted up a full listing elsewhere in the reviews and is well worth studying. As a UK singles collector of chart hits from 1952 to 1980 (my core collecting years), this cd set is really worth the small investment of money required to purchase it. I like most of them having never the vast majority of them before but the ones I list below are exceptional...1.Barry Cryer (The comedian!) - The Purple People Eater was a flop here but a Number 1 in Finland!2.Aretha Frankilin - Rock A Bye Your Baby With A Dixie Melody.3.Frank Sinatra - I Could Write A Book & If I Forget You.There are also a few early Motown tracks here as well! So you pay a little, and you get a lot. 75 tracks of finest Fontana!

INTERESTING MIX-GIVE IT A GO!
AS WITH THE REST OF THE CDs IN THIS SERIES,THIS COLLECTION REPRESENTS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY AND IS WELL WORTH IT!I THINK I'VE FOUND ONE ERROR IN THE TRACK LISTING-DISC 3 TRACK 5 IS CREDITED TO LEO DIAMOND AND THE CHEROKEES,I THINK THAT SHOULD ACTUALLY BE LEE DIAMOND AND THE CHEROKEES (WE DIDN'T HAVE LEOs IN THOSE DAYS-MUCH TOO POSH!!!!!)

Great label
A few years ago I managed to get ark 2 on cd which Fontana released in 1969 the first album with Phil Collins on Fontana released slades first singles great label if vertigo hadn't replaced it status quo might have been on Fontana also for men's years there was a rumour that Wayne Fontana was named after the label but wasn't true Fontana had a lot of great releases it's a shame ark 2 wasn't successful as it's a great album with songwriters of Howard and blakeleys calibre who wrote this fine album and Dave dees songs

Teen Scene - Gems From The Fontana Vaults
A nice 3 CD collection of 75 releases from Fontana 1958-62. A mixture of middle of the road such as "White Rose Of Athens" by Nana Mouskouri and "A Certain Smile" Johnny Mathis to teen ballads such as "Only Sixteen" Al Saxon and "Please Mr. Postman" Marvelettes. One of my favourites is "Seven Steps To Love" Sal Mineo covered by Terry Dene in the UK. Recommended buy.

Sound Quality nowhere near those of similar budget labels.
Distortion with the sound, some of it really bad, I used do better back in the days of tape cassettes. This is a real shame as there are some real gems in this collection. It's a pity that these did not come from the similar priced Jasmine records, at least their products made to the personal stereo. But sorry, this series just aren't worth it, even at these prices

GEMS THEY ARE
Three CDs jam packed with 75 Fontana Releases from 1958-1962. Some tracks, like The Allisons, Johnny Mathis Marty Robbins and Al Saxon are well known hits, whilst other only charted in the U.S.A. The third category contains some wonderful items of hard to find Non-Hits & Misses plus early Motown Recordings all in all a brilliant mixture of recordings from the pre-Beatles era. Well done "One Day Music"

THANK YOU
The item is brilliant and I and enjoying the CD immensely. Great item. In future I am not prepared to write an essay, what is wrong with "A brilliant CD. Thank you"?

Good stuff once again. Thanks, One Day Music, for all these classic releases.
Fontana was another niche music label with some fine artists during its tenure. Was a sub-label of Smash. Some great songs here. Worth the money, for sure.
