Not So Easy, Not Very Good
First, the installation of the hardware in the hot water heater was a fair bit of work–several hours (with our water heater in our attic), and the directions were not the clearest. Second, the remote could not be synched with the water heater with our portable phones operating (on 915 MHz). Last, when the remote appears to be cooperating with the water heater, it is still very difficult to use, taking a lot of time messing with the buttons on the remote to get anything to happen–setting the temperature with the remote seems to be a hit or miss operation–mostly miss. Pressing the buttons on the remote to change the water heater temperature only occasionally does anything! This was a waste of a lot of money and a lot of time.

Why did I wait
Why did I wait to buy this great little device? One of the things they don't tell you about a tankless water heater is that it has a minimum flow rate for ignition, and for our heater, that is below the tempered flow of a 3 gpm shower nozzle. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. The solution is to turn the water temperature way down, like 104F, and then the tempered flow to the shower head is mostly "hot" water so the heater keeps heating. Need to wash clothes or dishes? Turn the heat back up to 130F. Simple, except the heater is outside and it's cold or rainy. Enter the TSTAT2. Wonderful device. Why did I wait?I should mention that you need to install the transmitter board in the control module, so you need to be at least an advanced amateur at electrical repairs. The included instructions are clear, you just have to be able to follow them.
