Mosaic and Tessellated Patterns: How to Create Them, with 32 Plates to Color (Dover Art Instruction)

The book introduces the basic types of tessellations and presents many examples. Note that the book title say "32 plates _to_ color" and not "32 color plates". The "look inside" feature shows already colored tessellations, but they are not in the book. It's not a problem, but don't expect to get color plates. This book is more geometric in its approach than "Principles of Pattern Design" by Proctor (isbn 0-486-26349-5) and may complement it nicely.

I like the patterns but was expecting instructions on using a compass to draw them.

Not being a professional designer, I was interested in this book for ways to create my own designs for quilts. This proved to be an excellent resource, for it had examples of numerous tessalations. The material was ideal for my purposes and provided techniques for my personal use.

Explains the uses of tessellations and manipulations of shapes and perception. The coloring pages are also very cool. They start off easier and progress to quite elaborate. Great for colorists of geometric shapes/patterns and you can learn to draw some as well.30 text pages, 32 coloring pages - all double sided

The cover of the Kindle edition states "32 color to color." While I would not expect to color within the Kindle app, I would expect to view the plates. I happen to like seeing complex B&W tessalations, too. The plates are not included in any format in this edition nor is there a statement in the description of the book that states that exclusion.

geometric patterns galore! these are all very interesting, and I haven't seen anything like this before, so I'm psyched to start using them in art quilts!

Kids love this. Great as a center in the classroom! Varied levels of difficulty!

Dover Publishers can be relied on to produce excellent books. It is a real pleasure to open this book and dip into a new pattern.

Colour plates missing from kindle version. The 32 examples was a significant element of the book that were missing in this kindle version. I would expect to find them as images. Incredibly disappointing!

This is more a colouring book, not a book about how to create tessellations.

I bought this thinking it might be useful, but quite frankly I don't think it will be. Am disappointed....
