Mold for Russian Ukraine Pelmeni Ravioli Meat Dumplings

I'm a Russian guy and I need to have my pelmeni. I used to make pelmeni by hand. This pelmennitsa contraption does save time but the trick is you have to not overstuff them (you have to use less than half a teaspoon of meat per). If you overfill them, when you start pressing them down with a rolling pin they get squished on the surface of the table like mushrooms and then you have to manually squeeze each one out which takes about 5-8 seconds each (if you're good at doing them by hand that's about how fast it takes to do each). If the legs were a little taller this wouldn't be such a problem. If you fill them just right it will save time because they come out pretty easy if you sifted some flour on it before laying on the dough. The metal build is pretty solid without being unduly heavy. Personally I like my pelmeni big, this produces average size ones which is certainly okay but I wish the holes were just a few millimeters larger. Anyway, if you're far from a Russian store and don't want to break your back doing it by hand using a shot glass, this is a good substitute, and after two or three practice runs you can get it down well. Also, they don't come out all hexagonal looking once they're cooked, unlike what I originally feared (yes, I'm big on traditional presentation what can you say....).

The order arrived promptly -- no complaints. The mold itself is an ultimate piece of s.../garbage, pardon my French! It is made of lowest quality aluminum alloy, leaves tiny bits of metal on your hands when you touch it, no way I'd consider using it for cooking my meals.I must admit the price of this item looked so suspiciously low -- I should have predicted the outcome. !!!DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

The sharp legs scratched up my counter badly, the very first time I used it. Be careful using g this. Lots of very sharp edges!

I like this but I wont lie, it does not make dumpling making any easier for me. I ended up putting it aside and just stuffing and folding by hand like I normally have done. It is very neat and I will just keep it for future possible use.

I used to build Pelmeni ravioli by hand, never again. The uniformity and faster work is worth it! Sturdy construction and easy to clean.

Nothing like the real thing. It's flimsy and has uneven sharp edges. Virtually imposdible to use for the purposes intended, nit mentioning it's not safe.

The metal had defects across the whole piece. Lots of cracks in the metal where the cast was not fully poured.It broke in half on the first batch that I had used it on.

no box, no instructions, no recipes, nothing. just a piece of plastic with holes in it....for 10 bucks. i think this is a return item, it's not as advertised, and not what i expected, at all.

I actually love it it made making the food way much easier I do recommend it for everyone
