Works surprising well with fountain pens
I had purchased these notebooks to use as scratch paper and to test fountain pens on. I didn't expect it to perform so well at this price. There is less bleedthrough and ghosting than on notebooks at 3x the price. Almost none of my inks bleed unless I'm using a broad nib with a somewhat wet ink. I also get a pretty good sheen on this paper. These are very budget friendly for fountain pen users. I'll probably look into some of the dot grid Muji notebooks once I need more journals.

Surprised by its durability
I bought this for taking notes but decided to try painting thumbnail sketches in it. The thin paper holds up well to gouache and does not soak through! It is a great size and will use them for my new sketchbook and paint swatch book.

Wonderful A5 notebooks
Great for fountain pens and inks. I was happily surprised and immediately ordered more.

Great paper for fountain pens
I wish I could get these notebooks in the Cahier (8" X 5") size. These Muji notebooks are the full A5 size, so they are just a little bit too wide for my Travelers Notebook. However, I LOVE the paper in these notebooks. I write with fountain pens. This paper isn't even Muji's special "high-quality" paper that they advertise as being great for fountain pens; nevertheless, it is great paper for fountain pens. No bleeding, no feathering, and for me, every different type and wetness of nib I have tried has written great on this paper. Now, they're not Tomoe River, but nothing else is. This is not the absolute best fountain-pen paper I have ever written on, but it's close. I just wish I could get them in the size I want. I will probably buy them again, however, even though they are the wrong size, because I just like having good paper to write on. I don't do ALL my journaling in my TN. I will watch for Muji to make them in the right size in the future, though. BTW, I tried these in the blank and the lined pages, and both notebooks are very nice to write in. I just prefer the lined pages.

Good planner!
I'm a very picky person when it comes to planners. For this new year, I just decided to do my own thing. I was looking for a specific notebook to make my own planner and this was perfect! The size was great - not too big or too small. The plain sheets make it super easy to customize. I loved the blank cover, all the better to paint on or add stickers to! Also, three journals for that price? It's a steal!

Awesome find!
Slightly smaller and thinner than I was expecting or initially hoping, but these are going to work out great. I think the smaller format and very light weight will work out well for my daughter's daily sketching exercises. It will be less overwhelming than having pages and pages unfilled ahead of her in a heavy book, we can use it for a single project and be generous with the amount of pages we use. The paper has a very smooth tooth and is easy to handle, the pages are sewn at the binding well, so none will fall out. I could also imagine this being used as a small collage, scrapbook, or photo book. The paper is a very nice weight.

High Five to the notebook
I bought these notebooks because in general it's hard to find books without ruled lines. I write on these pages sideways in two columns, and it's a nice compact size for that. I use them as notebooks for college courses, and as companion notebooks for when I read technical books. To the yankees like myself who are unfamiliar with "A5" size paper, the pages are about as wide as a CD case. They're not nearly as big as our standard 8.5 x 11" notebooks. Make sure you're okay with that. The paper is slightly yellow in color, and looks and feels of high quality. Takes pencil well. Overall, I'm really happy with the build quality and the look of these things.

Robust, sturdy, and surprisingly good with fountain pens
These are great little notebooks. Bindings and covers are sturdy enough to be thrown into backpacks. The paper is somewhat thin and quite smooth. It holds up very well to fountain pens. I've seen no feathering with any pen/ink combo I've tried, and there's not much ghosting on the other side of the page. Not, it's not premium paper like Tomoe River, Life, Midori MD, Kokuyo, etc. But these books are inexpensive and robust for note-taking and other casual uses. Highly recommended.
