Q: Why is the sole much chunkier on one of the pictures than the other and which one of the pictures shows the correct sole they come with ?

I do.t k.ow why the pi tures shows the difference. I can tell you that my husband swears blind these are great boots they never wear out ,it is his second pair and they have very heavy use every day .would recommend them

Q: Are these boots true to size?

In my experience they tend to come up a little bit larger to allow for a fatter foot with a sock on. Size 9 are ideal for me as I am a 91/4-91/2
