Q: How white is this sand?

It's a very nice white sand very bright and very fine. My plants and fish both love it. I have four ram cichlids and three bumblebee catfish and they all love it. In my eyes its some of the best natural sand you can buy.

Q: Is it good for a freshwater tank?

I have it my freshwater tank and it hasnt hurt my fish at all and it looks great and natural.

Q: Can this be used in a DIY made water filter for drinking water?

I would probably not use this for that purpose. 1, it is very fine and could easily get stuck in a motor if they are kept closely together. 2, when i received my bag it was full on little beetles so i would question how sanitary it is.

Q: How Do you prep the sand and how do you clean the sand with what water ?

Put the sand in a bucket and put water in the bucket. Swirl it around and pour the water out. Do this a couple of times. The sand is honestly very clean compared to most other aquarium sands.
