Funny and well set out.
The Daria database is set out in alphabetical order and contains more information about Daria's friend Jane and her art work and other minor characters from the TV series often in the form of letters and e mails. Daria is shown as saving some of her allowance {$45 out of $70} towards a mountain cabin. [whilst her sister Quinn is $18 in debt by the end of the week due to her obsession with fashion.Quinn is portrayed as being shallow and going along with everything her friends do in a bid to maintain her popularity even if it is at the expense of grades etc, which is very true to life of many teenagers.{Strangely despite being girls neither of them budgets for tampon's.} I brought this book to complete my collection and thought it was better than the Daria Diaries. This book was the first thing I have ordered from America and it arrived a lot quicker than I expected. Not many people know that there are books about Daria, I think the reason for this is because the show was not as popular as Beavis and Butthead and therefore MTV did not spend as much money on merchandise with Daria .

Tonight on Sick Sad World…
Along with its counterpart, the Daria diaries, expands the universe of Daria and some things you might not have known, along with extra titbits for the fans. If you have ever wanted to see the full expanse of Lawndale, extra information on what settings in the show and even some more amusing show announcements on sick sad world then this is the book for you. I would highly recommend this book to those who loved the series when it still aired on Sunday mornings in the UK.

What's 'witty' in the cartoon is just depressing in print
I am a big 'Daria' fan, but despite this, I wouldn't recommend this book. Despite a few witty and pithy comments, this TV scrapbook (from the MTV cartoon character 'Daria') came across as rather bleak and pessimistic. What works as a cartoon is just plain depressing in print, as this compilation of life in Lawndale demonstrates. As Daria writes about the Lawndale High Teachers' Lounge, "Students aren't allowed in here. They might find out how depressing it is to be an adult." A fitting paraphrase for this book would be "Humans shouldn't be allowed in here, unless they want to find out just how depressing it is to actually live in this day and age." This book was just too dark, even for 'Daria'. And I spent $14 on this? (sigh) The only reason I'd reccommend this is for the die-hard Daria fan who wants to know everything about Brittany's family, what Daria's address is, the kind of clubs (aka 'dumps') that Mystic Spiral plays at, etc. Otherwise, save your money.

Clever, though strictly for fans.
This latest spinoff book from the animated series is, much like the series itself, clever and generally entertaining. For fans it will undoubtedly be welcome, as it provides a few extra glances into the twisted world of Lawndale (such as the not-at-all-surprising fact that Sandi's mother was a news anchor for a brief, but still bragged-about, moment). For those who only occasionally watch the show, and especially for those who never see it, it will just be confusing. It is a good example of this sort of thing, but it doesn't transcend its own limitations. (Am I thinking too much here?)

Dead-pan sarcasm that borders on wackiness.
"The Daria Database," although staying in the spirit of the MTV cartoon show, seems at times to get a little too ridiculous with the exaggeration of the high school sterotypes. Daria herself isn't mentioned very much; the book mainly focuses on the stupidity of the popular people. There are a few gems, however. One may be Quinn's "Academic Imprisonment" essay, often referred to in "Quinn the Brain," but never actually heard in entirety. I also must warn against any football or cheerleading fans reading this book-they might find it highly offensive.

Perfect for all you sarcastics out there!
Hate popular people? Love insulting people? Love the show 'Daria'? Well this book will give you all the juicy details about charactors such as yours-truly Daria, Jane, Britney, and Upchuck. See Daria's excuses to get out of doing, well, everything, Quinn's report that made her a temporary brain, and much much more! When I got this book, I really couldn't put it down! I wouldn't stop reading til I was done. I recamend this book to every dedicated Daria fan out there!!!! It's a great book!

A true Draia fan must-have
I bought this book (after reading The Daria Diaries) and loved it. It's a must-have for any true Daria fan. Everyone I know calls me "Daria" because of my attitude towards life...but hey, i don't care. Anyway....this book is a must have for a Daria fan. The book includes Cheerleader do's and don'ts, Brittany and Kevin's private e-mails, College application letters, Family portraits and profiles, QuinN's excuses for breaking dates...and much more!

"The Daria Database" is a must-have for any hard-core fan.
"The Daria Database" is a great book for fans of the MTV show. It provides the reader with a more in-depth look of several of the characters and offers amusing supplements to many of the specific shows. Though the overall quality of "The Daria Database" is not quite as good as its predecessor, "The Daria Diaries"-which is better for beginning fans-it proves to be quite enjoyable to those of us who adore the caustic teen.
