Simple and cheap, best way to ensure a clean cut on hydraulic brake hoses without ovalisation or crushing of the pipe, loses a star as it started to struggle after several cuts so not sure on longevity

Clean and flat, 90° cuts, excellent tool.

This is a 2 part cutter. The inner part carries the blade and slides down inside the outer part.With the one I was sent the 2 parts do not fit together well.The assembly screws are tight so it's not that.Because of the play the blade moves side to side so you have to be very careful to apply force directly down on the moving part, not really a natural hand grip on this item.I also found that unless a fairly large amount of pressure was applied to keep the hose in it's slot the hose tended to hop out as the blade was pushed down. I ended up resting the tool edgewise on a flat surface to apply pressure down on both sides of the hose while closing the blade with my other hand. So not a tool that would be easy to use to shorten a hose that was already on the bike.There is not a lot of choice out there when it comes to these cutters. Someone should design a better one at a reasonable price and corner the market !

For the hassle created by not having a perfect cut on brake hoses then not using one of these is just silly. Perfect cuts every time, hassle free 👍🏻👍🏻

Clean cuts works great

Just put these Magura MT5e brakes onto this frame. Using the cutting tool was great. The hose slots right in and a precision knife blade cuts the hose very clean and straight.The tool itself feels good in the hand and cuts with just a bit of pressure. You can get a crooked cut if you don't make sure to hold the line straight in the cutting slot. Just make sure you can get a good perpendicular grip. I suggest not cutting the hose on the bike but, if you must, then use caution.Overall great product.
