Andrea Camilleri's Montalbano collection is a great value. The stories are interesting, like taking a trip to Sicily. The plots twist and turn, but aren't brutal, aren't gruesome. Entertaining. Glad I bought the collection.

These are quick reads. The events are diverting, but it's the sense of place (Sicily), the characters (Inspector Montalbano, and his team), and the humor, that make these police procedurals a lot of fun to read.

Great crime novels. Author loved in Europe and barely known in the US. Perfect detective. Perfect stories. A little murder and mayhem but not TOO much. 😊

I received the order on time but the set was incorrectly put together. One book was doubled and 1 was missing. The missing book was replaced in reasonable time.Customer service works here.I enjoy Camilleri novels a nice departure from American style and provides an ensite into a different culture. In this vain I also like the Italian mystery author Michael Dibdin's 11 novels.

Just returned from Sicily and the house we stayed in had this series but in Italian.Enjoying my summer reading and there's books make me want to return soon to Sicily.

Love these books!

I bought these books after watching few episodes on BBC four of the Italian show Inspector Montalbano a while ago. It’s a set of detective stories with a comic twist and a great attention to the different nuances of human behaviour. Inspector Montalbano is such an engaging hero! The books are really entertaining and very cleaverly written.

I have just finished reading the fourth book in this collection and it is the best so far. There's sometimes a feeling of satisfaction on completing the reading of a crime novel and this one really hit the spot. Camilleri's characters are highly entertaining and the plots are well constructed. Montalbano is a larger than life lead character with an appetite for food that beggars belief and his lifestyle is as confusing as his train of thought when solving cases.Only another 16 books in this back catalogue to enjoy. Shouldn't take too long...

If you have seen and enjoyed Montalbano on the TV (but not essential) you will enjoy these books. The Sicilian sun and countryside is transported to the pages of the books. You love the characters and even have a soft spot for the bad guys. They are page turners and once yo have finished one book you want to start the next. A good reason to buy this set of 10 books.

What a great set. I had enjoyed the Inspector Montalbano TV series and the books enhance the experience. Coincidentally I was reading "The Terracotta Dog" as the episode appeared on the TV. The programme was very loyal to the book and conveys absolutely the same emotions, excitement, predicaments and quirkiness.

Good books, but I enjoyed watching the series on TV first - more that reading the books! Might have been different is it had been the other way around. Just personal preference.
