Nice
This is a sweet little amp that provides a good amplified sound appropriate for practice or a sound boost while playing on the beach or such. Would not say it is outstanding for trying to perform or anything. The sound is best at lower levels and is somewhat distorted at the highest settings. But it is darn cute and perfect for practice sessions which is what I wanted. Very pleased.

Meh, not great
Its a nice little amp , but it doesn't get too loud before the sound quality goes to crap. But hey it's only 99 bucks

Good for acoustic instruments or bluesy electrics
This is a good little portable amp. It is well made, solid, has a decent speaker and enough power for limited playing.I already had a one watt Honeytone portable amp, but it just didn't have the power or tone to produce much. It is, however, small enough to wear on your belt. This Luna amp is powered by 6 AA batteries, making it 9V, but less convenient perhaps than a single battery would be.It looks good, and you can prop it open if you want to lose half the bass tone for some reason. There is a little storage inside to keep the 9V adaptor (included) and perhaps a guitar cord, so it wraps up neatly and the tolex (?) cover is pretty durable. It comes with some stickers to show you've "traveled" that are a useless ornamentation.I tried the amp out with 5 different instruments: an Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic electric, a Fender Telecaster (solid body), an F-style mandolin, a Gibson ES 335 (hollow body), and an 8 string custom made non pedal steel guitar (lap steel, technically). The acoustic electric guitar sounded great, with the bass not overpowering and not muddying up the sound. It was clear and balanced and had plenty of volume. The Telecaster distorted on the lower two strings, as did the 335. This was annoying at first and I couldn't quite understand why the acoustic guitar didn't distort but both electrics did. The F-style mandolin also sounded balanced and not distorted. Finally, the 8 string steel also produced little distortion, even though it is a solid body and has even lower tuned strings than a standard electric guitar. The volume was a little lower on the acoustic instruments and the steel than on the regular electric guitars.I think that this is the same as the Luna amp for ukulele, which could explain the difference. It is made for acoustic instruments, like the ukulele, which need a little amplification, and so the impedance (I'm guessing) is more closely matched to reduce distortion, which also produces a slightly lower volume.Overall, it works well and is a good design. The distorted sound is reminiscent of the old tube-type amps or a blues type overdrive. If you want a clean sound on the bass notes, you won't get it with this amp, but if you play mostly rhythm, or lead on the higher strings, you won't have any problems. If you like a little bluesy distortion, this will be ideal. There is also a sort of separation of tones on the electrics, with, as I said, distortion on the two lower strings, clear sound on the top two, and a sort of metallic, hollow sound on the middle 2. It's an odd type of disparity that you need to be aware of, to work around, or to incorporate into your style, IF you're playing a regular electric. So, I give this 4 stars because it's a substantial amp, with plenty of power for most situations you would want battery power for, and it has good sound, with some limitations. It also has a headphone jack and an input for portable devices like a CD player. I tried the headphone jack, and it is, of course, much louder, so you have to turn down the volume to about one quarter, but it is clear sounding and overcomes the bass distortion, but I wouldn't anticipate this function would get much use unless you want to practice in a hotel room or late at night so as not to disturb others. It wouldn't make sense for acoustic instruments.

Bad quality
It gets an extra star for looking super cool. However, the functionality was lacking. Upon arrival and careful unpacking, I noticed that one of the closures was broken, and when I tried using the unit, I didn't notice enough amplification to impress me at all. Back it goes.

Luna ukulele suitcase amp
this is not a loud amp. it will work in a small coffee house or fest camp setting, or for playing with acoustic guitars which are louder than a ukulele. the amp makes it possible for the ukulele to be heard when playing with unplugged acoustic guitar or other instruments. I like the tweed cover, it looks like and feels like fenders old tweed case and amps used to look. it is small but for the money if you want awesome sound options or volume, go with the Rolland microcube which is the same price.

My granddaughter thought it is very cool, she's 7 years old
My granddaughter thought it is very cool, she's 7 years old. From the beginning, we were having issues with the amp working and not working. We changed plugs/cords to see if and when it will work. It started working on the 2nd cord then after two weeks it stopped. Wife bought new cords from Amazon which did not help. I started testing all the old and new instrument cords with my old amp and each one works. Since it has passed 30 days, I removed the amplifier circuit without disconnecting any wires to check. After multiple times of testing, I definitely believe it is amplifier circuit issue due to poor design of amplifier jack socket input only supported the soldered circuit board. I say this because when the instrument plug is inserted into the input of the amplifier, the connection does not seem to go all the way through. There is 1/4 inch space between the amp socket and instrument plug. This full connection can only be established when the circuit is semi-removed from the amp. One needs to hold the socket component in the amp circuit board in order have connectivity. But it still does not work.My question now is, where can I find a Luna amplifier UK-5 circuit board as a replacement? The sad part about this, my granddaughter was so proud to show off her singing and playing the ukelele at school. Luna Amp did not work but she still went on with the show ...

Cool little amp
Great value; small, portable, tone works well in tandem with my own guitar. Stickers that came with it are pretty cool

9V battery wrapped in cellophane
At first the amp didn't work. Then I discovered that the 9V battery was wrapped in cellophane. Once I unwrapped it, it worked okay. Luna should put a note in the instructions saying that the battery is cellophane- wrapped and the amp won't work until you remove it.
