Arenaria Montana 'Avalanche' / Mountain Daisy or Mountain Sandwort/Hardy Evergreen/Seeds

I was disappointed as I was expecting plants not seeds and although I planted the seeds 3 weeks ago they have still not emerged.

Difficult to rate as I abandoned plans to grow these seeds when I read the complicated germination instructions on the back of the packet. May try next spring when I have a bit more time or I may buy ready grown plants

The instructions, which are detailed, and on the packet (unlike some I have bought online previously), said they might need to be moved into the fridge for 4-6 weeks to break dormancy, so I was expecting to have difficulty with germination, but the photo above was taken just 18 days after sowing, and the seedlings are doing well.That was the second surprise - the seedlings are growing so tall! I expected little tiny things, because this plant is only supposed to grow to form a mat about 6-9 inches high, but they are quite leggy! They have plenty of light, so it just seems to be how they are.There were 20 seeds in the packet, and 13 have germinated so far. They came through one or two at a time, not all at once, so more may yet grow, although 13 of these plants will be enough for me to be getting on with.The seller turned out to be excellent - the seeds arrived the day after I ordered them, beautifully packaged, and the seeds are obviously good. Any failure beyond this point will be my own fault.

As expected

I bought the seeds a few weeks ago and they didn't germinate but I read on the packet that they might need a kick start and suggested putting them in the fridge for a couple of weeks (the technical term for this is Vernalisation). This I did and am happy to report they have germinated.

I wanted something I cud put straight in garden
