Musrat Fateh Ali Khan
The gem of all Sufi singers. I love his voice with the same passion you find in the black spirituals, from the soul. Really uplifting, thanks sis for getting me in to this!

Great Second Nusrat CD purchase:"Brilliant Album"
I bought my first Nusrat CD in June 1998, entitled Love songs by real world although I did have a compilation of his best hits on an audio cassette in the 1990s one of the tracks called `Nit Khair Manson Sohnia Main Teri' from his Shahen-Shah Album (my seventh Nusrat CD purchase upto early 1999) was a classic traditional track is still play on radio shows/programmes. The rapture was my second Nusrat CD purchase in July 1998. I was enthralled by the mixture of rock back beat, melodic pop which blended in nicely with the electric guitar on its own to great effect. The classic roots track: "Man Atkeia Beparwah De Naal" and the spiritually uplifting tracks "Sab Vird Karo Allah Allah", "Un Ka Andaz-E-Karam" and "Dam Dam Karo Fareed" dedicated to a Famous Muslim saint in India. Another of my favourite tracks was a sort of "lovers rock" from a Qawwali/Bollywood style type track was "Tumhen Dil lagi Bhool Jani Paregee" which indeed inspired Bollywood directors to make a film with a similar title & song a few years later!Overall, it is an excellent CD by Nascente. For those who want World Roots tracks then the compilation by Rough Guide & produced by World Music Network: entitled: World Roots is worth buying and which has the famous & mesmerizing track "Man Atkeia Beparwah De Naal" on this 1999 CD.

......Experience the musical genius......
After the death of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, which sent shockwaves across the world, Rapture was released to commemorate the genius and legend of Qawwali. The compilation contains seven famous tracks from the maestro. These are not remixed, and are the original recordings of the traditional Qawwalis. All tracks are edited (except one) so that they can be fitted onto one CD, hence are not the complete tracks but parts of the tracks. However to be fair each track is on average around ten minuites long so listeners should not feel short changed.Although it's not a complete list of his greatest and most famous tracks, the tracks included do (expect for one) form part of them. The album is dubbed as an `essential selection' so we cant really expect all of his greatest tracks to be included.`Sab Vird Karo' should not have been included in this selection and this makes it the odd one out. It is a good song but it is not a traditional Qawalli and I also do not deem it as essential. However the rest of the tracks do warrant greatness. The opening track `Man Atkeia Beparwah Del Naal' is monumental and one of his greatest ever. Other highlights are `Sanson ki Mala' and `Tumhen Dillagi' which are two of his most famous. This is a worthy addition to his other greatest hits and for any collector of Nusrat's compilations. It is also a good starting point for someone new to Qawwali, and for them to experience a glimpse of one of the greatest musicians of all time. All in all, an excellent buy and a good compilation which does exactly what it intends to - well almost.
