Good quality and well designed except for a couple of details
I live on a narrowboat and bought this to protect those things I want to have on my hatch while it is raining. Maps. My Nicholsons guide books. Copied/printed bits of navigating info. My tablet with a moving map of the canal. For that I have found that it works well, very well. So, why only 4 stars? Well, I guess I am getting "picky" in my old age. First, it is a very nicely made piece of equipment, obviously made with good quality materials, and with care and attention to detail (but see below re. a user guide). The plastic is tough, and it's great to have two transparent sides (sounds obvious, but not a feature all map cases have). The waterproofing is exceptional and as long as it's not left floating in the canal or a puddle, or opened in the rain, or opened carelessly when it has water/rain drops on it (always a pain to get the last bits of moisture out of a waterproof bag!) it'll protect all your paper stuff, and more. So, the "but" bits. Well, it's maybe not as big as you expected. Measure your bits of paper and maps well. The transparent window is 225 mm X 355 mm so it'll easily fit A4. But it won't necessarily fit all your folded maps. Having said that, it fits my Nicholsons guides perfectly. The irritating detail about the window is that on each border -- outside the clear area -- it has a 25 mm "dead" zone where there is an opaque border. The irritation is that the edge of anything in the case will inevitably slip into this "dead zone" at some time of the day and thus become impossible to read as you can't see it!! And isn't it always the case that your destination is on the edge of the map/sheet? OK, you can shake the case to realign it, but to me that is an irritation. Then -- and as you can see in the item's photos -- there is a big black company logo smack on the bottom right of one side, all over whatever is underneath!! Why? There is already a cloth name tag? Whoever thought that was a good idea, to cover maybe important map data under a black blob? The case can be carried open or folded in half or rolled. The carrying strap is skinny but adequate. Mind you, there are two bits of Velcro with a function I haven't yet worked out. Another "irritation" -- sounds daft maybe, but I wish this had had a "How to Use This Case" guide included. Now I am going to be annoyed until I can work out what those Velcro bits are for ;-) But, when all is said and done this is high quality kit, and if my gripes that lost it one star don't bother you buy it!

Tell us how big your map case and window are in your publicity.
The map case and window are too small to display OS maps (as OS is the main source of walkers maps) in full with two OS map faces unfolded. It suffers from the same problem that other map cases suffer from in that its bordering material obscures the sides/ends of the OS map that it is holding. It actually looks in the publicity as though it will hold an OS map with four faces unfolded. It does not; it can only hold the map with two of the faces bent in half (not good for the map !) and then of course with the sides/ends obscured.Obviously I would like to see the whole of the map when I am out on the moors in heavy rain and wind. But if the manufacturers cannot comply with this they can at least supply the dimensions of the case and window with their publicity; or convince OS to make maps to the size of their windows - haha).

It kept my maps and documents dry
The Aqua Quest Trail Map Case arrived exactly as described (and there was no logo on either side of the clear plastic). The inner seal works very well - it is a tight fit, but I had no problems getting it to click together and the rollover Velcro closure does a good job of keeping any moister away from the inner seal. The various Velcro patches give a wide variety of folding options. I haven't really used the carry strap other than clipping it to my rucksack and then either carrying the map case in my hand or tucking it in the waist belt of my rucksack.Over the weekend, I used the map case while I was leading a couple of groups in very wet and windy conditions (in Northumberland) and my maps and documents were still dry at the end of the expedition on Sunday afternoon. It will be interesting to see how the Aqua Quest Trail Map Case performs when winter arrives but based on my experience so far, I have high hopes for it!

Ok, but that logo does my head in
Ok - it’s a good map case BUT whichever marketing muppet designed the plastic cover with the logo on the transparent bit needs a kick up the backside. Managed to remove the logo with sticky stuff remover but the plastic has gone all cloudy. Have you ever seen a BMW windscreen with “BMW” right across the middle of it - no, because it’s (a) illegal and (b) stupid! Marketing man - take a look at yourself in your mirror - unless of course you cannot as you’ve got logo’s all over it, rendering its use as a mirror USELESS!!! I mean, come on guys, what are you thinking about?

I bought this case to replace an Ortlieb one that had seen better days. Have used it for a couple of months now.Things I like - big visible area so you can see more of your route. rolls up easily for storage when you are walking nice clear plastic seals well and no problems - so far - with water ingressLike less: - Because of the seam lock you have to fiddle a bit to get the air out before closing the velcro and rolling it up - could do with a wee pocket for a compass - i tie mine on and roll it up inside, but a pocket would be betterI'd buy it again

Great design and features
Only 4 stars for now -not used it in heavy rain. Wanted this for the ziplock in addition to the Velcro. Velcro-only have leaked on me. Good visible area for OS maps. Got rid of the Aqua Quest logo using a Q-Tip dipped in white spirit. The logo obscures part of the map. Not worried about the nylon ripstop border causing blind spots by having the map slip behind them as the viewable area is large enough. Just waiting for heavy rain...:-)

Well made and versatilee
Well made product that can be used in many different orientations and therefore displayed map sizes.Much more expensive than rival map cases, but of a much higher quality.Drops a star because it lacks Velcro in some key places. It does have Velcro to hold it folded into thirds, but not if it is halved for example, nor to swap from one side out to the other. And as someone else pointed out, why on earth put logo/text marking on the transparent bit ???
