The Rolls Royce of hand warmers
This handwarmer is roughly 3x the price of a Zippo handwarmer (or an old Butterfly, Jon-e, and all the Chinese-made heaters). Is it 3x better? I think yes!!!Benefits of the S Boston handwarmer compared to All of the others;1) No lighter needed. It comes with it's own built-in starter. Push the button for 5 to 10 seconds, and it's lit. The flame from cigarette lighters can actually damage the catalyst. No worries about this with S Boston, as there's no flame needed.2) Lasts longer on an equal filling. 15cc of lighter fluid gives me 15 hours of heat. The others get only a fraction of that time for the same fill.3) The heat output. I've used a infrared thermometer to measure the output of this device. I typically see 170°F - 176°F once warmed up. Others, such as Zippo, you're lucky if you get 120°F. You get higher temps from S Boston without using more fuel than the others. It's just way more efficient! Another huge benefit of this extra heat is that it's next to impossible to "cold shock" the S Boston. With a Zippo, for example, with it catalyzing at roughly 120°, if you remove it from your pocket and place it into very cold outdoor temps, that cold air hitting the unit can and will cause the unit to get cold enough where the fuel doesn't remain warm enough to continue the catalytic reaction, and your unit instantly stops working, needing to be relit. The S Boston due to it's higher heat output can be placed into the cold but will remain working and putting out huge heat.4) You can easily turn off the S Boston. Just remove the top half, spin it 180° and place it back on. This moves the catalyst away from the fluid reservoir, extinguishing the unit. At the same time, this seals off the reservoir to prevent losing the remaining fluid. In other units, you need to either knock the hot catalyst off of the reservoir, or put the unit into a plastic bag to cut off oxygen to the catalytic reaction. After that, even though the others are OFF, they are still venting your fuel into the air, wasting it! With the S Boston, your reservoir is sealed, keeping your remaining fuel from just disappearing into the air.

The best hand warmer in the world, period
THIS is the Rolls Royce of hand warmers. Huge leap above all the others, it is the ONLY one with an internal electric ignition system, a tiny hot wire powered by 2 AAA batteries (not included). No more separate lighters or matches with hazardous flames! Just press a small button on the unit and the wire heats up and starts the catalyst going - clean and easy, nice and toasty! On a full tank, the unit keeps heating for at least 15 hours - actually even longer! It comes with a nice suede insulation bag to protect you from direct contact with the hot surface (it's a bit tight to pull on at first, but fits perfectly after repeated use). If you want to turn the heater off before all the fuel is used up (which other brands can't do), just lift off the top, turn it around and replace it - the burner turns off and the top of the fuel tank opening is plugged with a rubber cap. Now how cool is THAT!? Some reviewers complain about problems with the the battery compartment lid - just be careful but firm pushing it in the direction of the arrow all the way, then opening it. Another reviewer complained about flimsy construction of the ignition mechanism - ignore this. The ignition system is extremely well made for so tiny a mechanism. With reasonable use, it will last for years. This unit ends up costing maybe 4 times as much as the Zippo, but if you want the hand warmer to end all hand warmers, THIS IS IT! Shipping felt like it came on the slow boat from China (actually Korea), almost a month, but it's still worth it! I wonder why this brilliant device isn't better promoted and distributed in the US, and I got the hunch that Zippo must have cut a deal with the government to keep them out and limit the competition. I wouldn't blame Zippo, because if these S-Boston units were any cheaper, they'd put Zippo out of business.

It works well but a word of caution.
This product uses a battery in the removable top and it gets really hot.I don’t have any test equipment, but my concern is that it will exceed the safe heat limits of that battery.

Best fuel hand warmer
It’s a very useful hand warmer compared to others. Easy to ignite without having to carry a lighter. Easy to turn off when you don’t need it. Fuel bottle can be used as extra fuel storage without the need to carry a whole container of fuel around. Heat lasts longer than the disposable and the rechargeable ones.

Is it worth the cost to you?
Bought my S Boston handwarmer a year ago. It works well, when the battery powered element works, it is often very hard to get to work, not sure why, but it is the weak point if this device. The warmer gets to around 150°f if you don't over fill the reservoir. The catalyst is not easily replaced if needed. It wasn't designed to be replaced. I have this one, like it, but with the lower tech alternative being a fraction of the cost I don't think it is worth the price. If there was a warranty that covered replacing the catalyst and repairing the electric element I would be more likely to buy another.
