A master piece
From the photo on the cover I knew this was going to be a hell of a photographic ride. I was wrong. It was better than a honeymoon.I have a few oh Gruyaert's books. I knew he is very good in street photography, with an excellent eye on composition and mood. But this book excels that. This book has photos from a period of around 20 years, depicting the end of borders between water, sky and man. As if they were only one. Most of the photos are analogue, but even the digital ones look like they are analogue. The mood of each photo is beyond good. I read it 4 times in a row, each time marveling with the photos. There is nothing more to say than: buy it now.

Superb book of photographs
A really beautiful and interesting book. A work of art. Just love it, as I do all his other books.

Inspiring? No, not really
I was quite disappointed with this collection. No more than half a dozen of them do I return to, the rest don't stand out. Great composition? Most just seem rather mundane to me. Quite a few use very heavy grain, which is great in a few instances but really just gives a 1970's "arty" overlay to some otherwise unremarkable photos. Others are far too contrasty for me. I think the blurb above and the introduction in the book are most definitely overblown. I agree with one reviewer who particularly liked the cover image, in fact the cover to the French edition called Rivages is also very good and that photo is included in the English edition, but I'd say they are by far the best two images in the collection. My taste obviously. If you are seeking a collection more like those two you will be disappointed. If it is "street" you are looking for then they lack humour/quirkiness/surprise.

Terrible printing
For some reason there is terrible muddy quality to the images in this book. Hard to say if it's a defect or not. I would recommend you browse a copy in your hands before buying.Strongly recommend that you avoid.
