Sweet and Lovely:Capitol's Great Ladies of Song

Great Variety of WW II Music
These songs typify the mood of our country during a most trying time in history. Nice to see our country could unite behind its soldiers and national policy with musical support!! The songs while not equal to recordings from our era are a joy to listen to. Foot tapping and enjoyable.

Great songs but not remastered
I have many of the Capitol Cd's from the Great Ladies of Song and Great Gentlemen of Song and they are beautifully remastered and sound like they were just recorded. Unfortunately, this title does not appear to be remastered and the sound quality is good but not great. It does have great songs by great artists.

Nostalgia rules!
Great collection of 40s and 50s (and some 60s) ballads by the best female singers of the times. Good sound reproduction.

An outstanding collection of females singers. Particularly noteworthy are Jo Stafford's warm, rich voice - sublime, and Keely Smith - a voice of incredible purity.

Magic Moments
I am happy to recommend this lovely compilation of ballads and romantic standards. The producers have found some truly inspired performances to collect together on one CD. I've had it since 1995 and I have shared it with many good friends. Just put it on, pour a favorite drink and turn the lights down low. Enjoy.
