Wonderful Peel Experience!
I performed my first chemical peel with this kit, and I have to say that I'm more than satisfied with the entire experience. I left it on for 4 minutes - the recommended time for a first-time user, but next time I'm going to leave it on longer. I experienced zero discomfort - just minimal, almost-unnoticeable tingling. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. Please, please do your homework before performing any chemical peel. There's nothing "romantic" about a chemical peel. You are burning your skin..damaging it, so that the skin's natural "defensive" response of generating new skin will kick in. There's so much information available to guide you. Buy from a reputable dealer with a customer service phone number, so you can call with questions. I called and asked questions, in addition to doing a lot of online research.Read up on how to prepare your skin for a peel - especially if you're new to chemical exfoliation/peels and/or don't exfoliate (with a complexion brush, wash cloth) on a regular basis. Melanin-rich skin (I'm African American) can experience particularly disastrous results from using the wrong chemical peel solution, at a too high strength, left on too long. Be careful. Do a patch test, regardless of how "tough" you think your skin is. Start with lower percentages, gentler formulations, and shorter processing times. Don't be tempted to leave the solution on longer than recommended for your first time - you can always increase the time the next go round. Have your neutralizing solution prepared/close by before you begin, just in case you have a strong, burning reaction and need to stop the chemical reaction in a hurry. If you're reading reviews, look out for the "OMG!! I burned my face off!!!" declarations, that MAY be due to "user error". I say that because I know that folks OFTEN fail to do their homework/follow directions, and then blame the product. I've seen it happen, over and over and it's ridiculous. So, take some of what you read with a grain of salt.Peels usually need to be done in a series...not just one, to yield the best results, especially for hyperpigmentation...along with proper skin care between peels. Always wear a sunscreen/block (at least 30 SPF) before going out. Finally, without DIY peels, I couldn't afford to have the skin I want. The skin clinics charge so much money for peels - $1000 or more for a series, and sometimes you end up with less-than-desirable or disastrous results. If you do your research, don't try to rush the results, be consistent, and take care of your skin between peels, it's quite possible to have the smooth, clear, even-toned skin you want without going broke.Good luck.
