Highly Recommended!
Fantastic cross-section of the great and partly unsung, maestro’s DG recordings. Nice balance between larger and smaller pieces.

Jarvi - about time!
This 25 disc set is exceptional in every way, and about time someone paid tribute to Neeme Jarvi. After Karajan, Jarvi for me is my favourite conductor. Karajan made me like works I didn't originally take to. Jarvi I discovered after listening to the usual classical canon, made me hear new and exciting composers that most conductors don't cover. There is only so many variations of Beethoven's Symphonies or Mozart's Piano Concertos or Bach's Cantatas and everyone in between one can listen to. There are many exciting composers outside the canon of composers that Jarvi championed and made exceptional recordings of, some are in this set along with the usual suspects. Jarvi has always been a great conductor and he played unknown composers the same he would as if it were the greats, and in doing that he brought out the very best in some unfairly neglected composers, and as such this is one of the better collections you will purchase dedicated to a single conductor. Jarvi has recorded extensively with BIS and DG, but his greatest legacy is with Chandos and it's heartening to see they are repaying some of that service with this collection. Roll on Vol 2!
