Great runner strength programs to use while training for a race
This set includes 5 DVD's with the following workouts and lengths:Abs 8:54Upper Body 13:30Lower Body 23:34Total Body 12:40Core 10:52The DVD's include a short warm-up and cool-down, so the workouts are quite short and easy to fit into a running plan with a small time commitment. Great for runners that don't like to do anything but run. ;-)There is a "bonus" DVD labelled Stretch that includes 3 programs: Form, Agility, Warm-Ups. I was expecting some post run stretching, but the stretching is actually dynamic stretching that is in the "Warm-Ups" section of the DVD. I inquired about this on the FaceBook page for X-TrainFit and they were very quick to answer my question. The included running plans (beginner and intermediate) are all basic and are run-walk programs. Additional schedules for advanced plans can be downloaded on the X-Train fit online site and are in fact advanced and include speedwork intervals. The marathon program in particular is very advanced with high mileage but the plan can be scaled down to fit your needs. It is nice to know how to fit the workouts into a running plan. The equipment needed to do the programs are dumbbells and a resistance band with handles (a single handle band is also handy).Overall, I think this is a very doable program to integrate into a running plan while training for a race. It is also a good, painless introduction to running specific strength exercises. The instructor is very low-key and likable.

Train your way to a Marathon
my husband and I really loved running this together. I started as a couch potato and he started with experience. But it was really easy to get started

Love it!
I had been running for four years doing 5ks and 10ks but really wanted to do a half and full marathon before I turn 40, which is 2 years away:). I started this program 12 weeks ago and have to say I love it! The exercise dvds are so helpful and the schedule is great! My RHR has gone way down, I feel amazing and I am strong, which I never have been before (also starting to see a six pack). I really recommend this program to beginners or whatever stage you are. It reinforces form and strength instead of just running. Thank you!

Good solid running program
Great running program. I got really out of practice and missed running a lot and wanted to get back into it. None of the running calendars are revolutionary but are good solid dependable plans designed to help you work your way up safely. The strength workouts are really good and I can tell that the trainer knows what he is talking about. I'd recommend this program to anyone who wants to begin running or wanted to get back into it after a long time and who doesn't know where to start.

Great program for runners!
These workouts are old school, no nonsense, short but effective. The perfect complement to my running. The program is exactly what I was looking for. Every muscle group is worked.

Only for beginners.
If you've ever run a race, this plan is not for you. Great for beginners, but that's it. No plans or suggestions around pacing... One day you "jog 3.75 miles" and the next you "run 4 miles." I get better race plans out of my running magazines. Glad it was a gift, and I didn't blow $20 on it.
