Pretty good
Not a bad installment at all. The story is pretty well written and the art is so-so. The best chapter was the Justice League issue, which was seemingly added to make the book thicker.

it's was kinda better
unlike book 2 I enjoyed this one... up until a certain point though. when he teams up with hawkman those are amazing. then he goes on to fight harrow and that's good as well. at this point i'm thinking finally she has gotten Green arrow on point and made his story awesome and made up for the disaster book 2 was... then he meets the justice league and she kills it. while the writing is a 110% better than book 2 this book completely goes against Green Arrow. from that point on it sucks and once again reverts back to mirror book 2 (only with better writing) she also changes his origin story for the most part and at that point i've made up my mind on her. Nocenti is the worst thing to happen to Arrow. the only positive thing coming from this book, other than an awesome first half, is that she has left the series. On the back of this book they reviewed it as "briskly paced and carries sensibilities aligned with [the CW Arrow]. this is true for the first half, but i still can't forgive her for the second book and the new origin story. CW Arrow is a lot cooler than this version.

Gets good
Now is where we see green arrow becoming green arrow. The real green arrow we all knew back in the day. Happily awaiting volume 4

The last 1/3 was junk
Honestly, It was actually a pretty enjoyable volume until you get 2/3 into it. That's when they start the whole JL stuff and I simply got bored of it. It just doesn't mix well with the rest of the volume and seems like a real cut and paste job in my opinion. And much like what happened to Volume 4, It took what could have been a pretty good volume and made it into an Ok one.

Who's to say?
Either Oliver Queen just isn't as compelling as some of his JLA brethren, or the dialogue is lame broken up by infrequent funny moments, the archery competition gets old 3/4 of the way through and Queen is kind of a self defeating narcissist. That being said, I quite liked the villains and the way he bungles everything then somehow survives through wit or valour.

A decent Green Arrow story.
Not the best Green Arrow story, but it just gets better from this point on. I really can't wait for Volume 4.

So Much Better
Finally in the third volume we finally start to see shoots of promise rise up for the manure field that has been new 52 Green Arrow so far, but still unfortunately let down slightly by some poor art (in the green arrow issues the others are actually quite good) and some other issues I'll come to. This is a strange mix of a volume it collects issues 14-16 of Green Arrow, Issue 8 of Justice League, Issue 14 of The Savage Hawkman and importantly the Green Arrow zero issue.(An origin story finally but more on that later) It starts with the cliffhanger from the last volume Hawkman battling Thangagarian Warhawks over Seattle and Green Arrow jumping in to intervene, this story of Hawkman battling those out for his head due to charges of murder really shows up how poor the art is Green Arrow the first volume by the Green Arrow team looks alright until compared with the volume from Savage Hawkman which is more visually striking and has a much better looking Green Arrow, also the fact that no definite ending is given to this team up is a minus point but this is outweighed by a pretty good team up seen from both perspectives and is a welcome change from what has come before. The next story focusing on the arms dealer Harrow is a pretty standard hero meddles, villain sends people to get him story, better then most of the previous volumes but still lacking something, also how we get form Hawkman to here is never explained. That leaves the justice league team up, a short set up story for the next volume and the zero issue, these are the best looking issues in any volume and also have the most substance, there has been criticism of lack of back story and information so far and these stories more then make up for the lack of back story so far, I won't lay out what happens but we get quite a lot of information about why Oliver Queen became a vigilante and also some incite into his place in the wider DC universe and some friction between him and a member of the justice league, welcome stuff plus the zero year issue was written by ex Green Arrow writer Judd Winick ( also the person behind Batman: Under the Hood comic and the Under the Red Hood film) which was a welcome surprise. So overall 3 stars might be a bit harsh (a solid 3 and a half) but this is a vast improvement, it looks like someone at DC has actually put the boot down and got some direction going finally although it does contradict some of what's said before but who cares about continuity (O.K probably everyone), it's still short of greatness but it's at least getting there, I have heard good things about issue 17 onwards and the new writing team so we shall see where we go from here.

Much better for Green Arrow
Another less than stellar Green Arrow story, but it is an improvement on the rubbish they printed previously. This volume opens up with a story about how Oliver ends up on his fabled island, working for his father on an oil rig when it is attacked by terrorists. A decent story that wipes the cocky, brashness from Oliver and begins his journey into becoming a vigilante.Following issue 0 is a 2 parter featuring everyone's favourite Thanagarian, Hawkman. Oliver returns from his recent trip to China to find Hawkman battling Thanagarian Warhawk soldiers who are trying to kidnap his friend Emma. Oliver initially lends support to Hawkman successfully, saving Emma, but eventually she is taken by a Warhawk and this forces both Hawkman and Green Arrow to retreat and come up with a plan. It's an interesting team up that you will see again in the short lived Justice League of America but doesn't really amount to much long term. The next story is about Green Arrow breaking up an arms shipment, which brings him the ire of local arms dealer Harrow. Harrow is a brutal man who loves to fight dogs and eventually puts a bounty on Oliver's head when he breaks up one of his dog fights. The side story here is about Harrow's henchman, a small man known as Pike, and Harrow's girlfriend, who plot against Harrow to stop his brutality and empty his wallet but need Green Arrow to save them eventually. Not a terrible story as it shows a softer side to Oliver when he tries to talk Pike down from blowing up a building and killing himself, but it seems strange to name a book after a villain who appears for just 2 issues and probably not for more than 10 pages in total. The final part is about Green Arrow's attempt to join the Justice League but is constantly rejected by the founding members because he just shows up and gets in the way of their best laid plans. Eventually he ends up meeting with Steve Trevor, who just lost his job as Justice League liaison and they come up with a plan to start their own group.Overall the story telling of this book is incredibly disjointed, 4 stories across 6 issues, but they are a remarkably better effort than the previous volumes.
