Great machine for folks who like to tinker
This machine was fun to assemble. The instructions were easy to follow, everything was labelled, and it went together in about 20 minutes. Leveled the bed and did my first print shortly after. I then immediately started printing all the most highly-rated upgrades to the machine and have even converted it to direct-drive extrusion with a printed part.Tweaking for the highest quality prints takes time and a willingness to google and watch videos, but there is plenty of info out there.I have had, thus far, zero problems with bed adhesion. The only failed print I've had failed in the middle, where the part had a thin area that broke loose. The magnetic print surface seems to work well, but it is easy to damage with the included (metal) scraper, so be careful. PLA sticks too well to any damaged areas and can further damage the mat when being peeled off.For advanced users: I was able to pair this machine with a Raspberry Pi 3, Octoprint and Klipper for prints as fast, quiet and accurate as a 32-bit controller board without the cost and hassle of upgrading. The only problem I had with the unit was a crash during a print. After a power cycle, the bootloader and firmware had been erased. Flashing a bootloader isn't the simplest operation, especially for newbies, but it can be done as long as you have the right tools and follow the directions (google!) exactly. From then on, any time the unit is powered down completely, the firmware goes missing. I contacted SainSmart support and they very quickly sent me a new mainboard. NOTE: the mainboard is standard across all of the Creality Ender 3 clones, so this was not a problem that SainSmart was responsible for. I have no explanation for how the initial crash happened, other than it might have been triggered by turning off a nearby fluorescent lamp. (ground loop through Raspberry Pi USB port?) Again, this is not SainSmart's fault, so I'm not going to subtract a star.Overall, this is a robust machine that is really fun to tinker with and can produce excellent prints without spending a lot of money. Definitely recommended.

Level the bed!
This is my first 3D printer although I have experimented with friend's printers in the past. The printer is easy to setup if you can look at pictures/videos and turn a hex wrench. The printer came with all of the necessary parts and tools to assemble. The assembly was very easy except for one part on putting the hot end on the x-axis was not clear from the pictures but a quick glance through a video showed the proper orientation. Overall it took around an hour to assemble and print the test print of the dog that came on the sd card. There was enough basic filament included to print the dog test print and the calibration cat (downloaded from thingiverse). I have gone through about one and a half spools of filament so far and have had very few issues with the printer. To get the best quality prints you have to make sure that the bed is level (follow the instructions) and that the temperatures are correct for the filament you are using. The printer is fairly quiet, it is not loud enough to disturb someone in the next room. The prints come out looking good on a normal mode print and are excellent in the highest resolution. Quality is a trade off for time (takes longer to print higher resolution), but this printer is decently fast for small detailed prints. The larger size heated bed is a plus and I find the included magnetic build surface plate to be easy to use in releasing the print jobs. In my opinion it is an excellent value for the price and am glad that I purchased it!

Easy to assemble. Smart design
This is my second 3D Printer. Compare to the one I bought one year ago, this printer has many new designs which are user-friendly. I would like to share more details.Pros,1. If you had the experience to assemble the old version 3D printer from the very beginning, we would know that it spent you about 4 to 6 hours to finish. Thanks to the updated design, I can start printing the first model within 90 minutes from opening the box with loose parts of this 3D printer. I must say that the manual is one of the best and clearest ones which I have ever seen. All steps have pictures which are easy to understand.2. All loose parts have label on the bags. No need to guess what are the parts for. I like that extra screws and other small parts are prepared, just in case you know...and all tools are included, nothing extra needed.3. The magnetic surface mat is my favorite part of this printer. That's the main reason for me to choose the expensive model. I hate to use clips for fixing the surface mat. Nozzles are always damaged by hitting clips.4. Using four "huge" wheels to adjust surface level is a super smart design. Although it is not needed to do everyday, you could find how amazing it is when you use it. As the wheels are huge, you can adjust up and down precisely with turning a little angle.Cons,Noise. It still has some noise when the printer is working. But I know that all 3D printers must cool the extruder with high speed fan. And this printer is much quieter than my old one. This 3D printer is much better than my old one, AND much CHEAPER...

This is what you want if you are getting into this hobby.
This printer is honestly as good as you can get on the market today for home use and frankly i don't know that you can get any finer detail in the prints than this provides, from here you are pretty much just getting into bigger print beds or multiple print heads or different materials than PLA.This printer does come in parts that need assembly and i was intimidated by that but the truth is we live in 2019 at the time of my review and you can find video walk throughs of literally anything and this printer assembly is no exception. it took me about an hour and a half to build taking my time. The process is not difficult in any way and is in fact made even easier by having the manufacturer really go the extra mile by providing every single tool you could need, Allen keys, screw drivers, trimmers for the pla its amazing and i was grateful as hell to get all of that. The other thing about this printer that is amazing is that the printer itself is very very popular in the community and so there are tons of free mods available online that can upgrade this printer to make it even better. You can print the upgrades on the printer itself and because of that every upgrade you will see better and better results. Finally the printer has amazing cura profiles you can find online for making the detail on the prints even better. I have gotten mine so smooth its practically like a resin cast model and the details so fine you need a magnifying glass to see just how fine it is. And again its all free.I cant over state how good this printer is flat out and not even just for the price but the price is the best most reasonable part.

Great starter 3d printer for a great price.
Worked right out of the box. Great printer for a good price. Perfect for those looking into getting into this hobby. I only just had to replaced the gear extruder motor for a dual-gear, after 2 years of use. That is also the great part, this printer is easily modified.

Good and an easy 3D printer
this is my second printer, 1 at home 1 at work, both are an Ender 3d pro, slightly difference is the sainsmart. The software on the uSD card is out dated, you need to update or download directly the newest firmware.the setup-up is quiet easy, the instruction booklet is on the small side. with-in 1 week printed an drum empty.leveling the bed is important, after cooling down, just let you bed heating up and wait, and re-adjust the height if neccessary. He is worth the money, also my collegues are enthousiast and will buy one.

Nice kit
Excellent kit. The only reason I don't give full stars is that the firmware didn't had thermal protection enabled. I had to update the firmware myself, and that's some work the first time.
