Texas Peach Handbook (Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Service Series)

I bought this for my wife to take care of our peach tree. We live in the south suburbs of Chicago (about 30 miles outside of the downtown Chicago area). Our summers get hot and our winters are cold. This book is perfect for all aspects of taking care of the tree and getting the most out of it. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants a peach tree or has one. We are considering planting a second peach now...

Although labeled "Texas" Peach Handbook this book is a good source of information for the backyard peach grower in any state. I have had this book for 3 growing seasons and reference it frequently when trying to identify and resolve problems with my peach trees. To be sure it would be nice if the book had more depth such as that found in Michael Phillip's The Apple Grower (note to authors) but it is the best single source on peach growing that I have found.

Has everything you need to know about growing peaches in Texas. Using the info. from this book has produced outstanding results in growth of my young peach trees. I planted 10 peach trees 24 inches tall in January. within 8 months they grew to six feet tall and taller with thick trunks. They look like 2 or 3 year old trees. Very valuable book. Well worth the purchase.

Excellent reference guide. Wish it had fertilizer recommendations though.
