N Decoder, Classic locomotives CN-GP/4-Function 1A

I've used TCS decoders for years. This unit replaces one that failed. It failed in programming and is unrecoverable. Customer service left a great deal to be desired. I am still trying to get the replacement installed (time demands and other obligations).

These aren't the easiest to install, but they fit multiple locomotive types. You need some basic soldering skills. The directions are good, so that is very helpful. I've installed several of these, with no issues.

I knew this would be tiny to install in an N-Scale loco, but it all worked as advertised. I did have to reprogram the direction and lighting but that was not to difficult either. The locomotive seems to growl more (motor noise) than before the DCC conversion but that may have also been my reassembly. The lighting is much brighter than before!
