Excellent Mold, Makes Awesome Soap & Lotion Bars
So far, I've made soap and lotion bars in this mold and it works fantastic.About the mold:NO ODOR from the mold. It did not hold the odor of my fragrance oils with soap or lotion bars!It is firm enough to move in a pinch, but supple enough that it releases your soap or lotion bar very easily-just give a wee thumb tug on each side before turning the entire mold over and the soap pops right out. As a general rule, I place my mold on a small plate before filling so I can move it more easily if needed. The details came out very clearly even when I used varying shades of a maple syrup soap mix I made! I'm including photos of 4 bars that were sold the very day I made them! These would be very easy to "hand paint" if you used pipettes to fill in the details. Be sure to follow the instructions for layering soaps!Because of the nature of the design, you can make small one ounce bars of both lotion and soap in this mold, so long as you fill it enough to cover the parts you want in your finished bar. I was very impressed because the edges come out very nicely, crisp, yet flowing around the form of the cow--I haven't had any damaged, nor sharp edges on my bars. I was hoping that would be the case, and was very pleased to get a full 360 view of the finished bars. You can also make a small bar of just the head with or without the bell. How's THAT for versatility from a mold!At first, I stressed over the price, which is a bit steep [for me] for a single cavity mold, mostly because it becomes more tedious to draw out the "curing" process bar by bar. So if you're going to make multiples of this bar, and you want to do it efficiently, you're going to need more than one mold--which can become seriously pricey overall. If you consider the waiting time needed between bars, that reduces the economical value a bit as well. BTW, it takes about 1 hour for a soap bar to fully set in my house with the temp around 70 degrees F, and lotion bars take about 30 minutes in the same temp.My solution to the efficiency problem (because I have to get other business upgrades before buying more of these molds) is to add enough soap or lotion to every one of my batches of soap or lotion to make a bar or two of these. I figure that makes my soaps more exclusive anyhow. =)If anything else comes up with this mold, I will try to amend this review to that effect.I definately say give this mold a try, I am fairly certain that you will be glad that you have. I just wish there was a way to get a set of at least 4 at a cheaper price (keep in mind that they are well worth the $12 I paid for mine, I'm just needing to cut back on business expenses at this point in time--don't hold that against this product, nor the sellers).Happy soaping, hope this review has helped YOU make your purchasing decision!
