Secret of Saying Thanks

Beautiful book. The message to be thankful is not ...
Beautiful book. The message to be thankful is not one I live by, nor did I tell it to my children. I just naturally enjoy my days, and my children seemed to absorb my passion and enthusiasm. But many people do live by this message, and it's good one for children to know about. Children might not hear it, especially if your family does not go to worship services. This book communicates it beautifully, and it is clearly heartfelt. Some may find it preachy, and off-putting. I think, however, that if you agree with the message, you will not find it preachy.

I like the book
I like the book, the illustrations, the message. When I used it with my 2-4th grade students they seemed to get wiggly but the end of the story. I found it wonderful but to them, it was a bit long. The message was great and very appropriate for developing a sense of gratitude, especially around the holidays.

Just a Beautiful Book
This is one of the loveliest books, art-wise and word-wise.. I think it's appropriate for kids and adults about the topic of giving thanks and seeing gratitude in so many ways. The thoughts are lovely with beautiful pictures. It reminds me of Native American spirituality as well as the philosophy of St. Francis of Assisi. I highly recommend it.

Heartwarming
I first read this book to my children from the local library, and knew when I was done that I had to own it. If you are a nature lover, this is a great read for the kiddos.

It's no secret--thanksgiving leads to happiness.
In 2013 I read this book to my assembled family of 13 adults and children before our Thanksgiving meal. Everyone was a bit restive at first, the youngest girl asking to see the pictures, one of the adults making suggestions. But as I kept going, the crowded living room got completely quiet. The power of this little book's simple text and profound message became palpable. I pray that its "secret" will remain with me and my children and grandchildren always.

Wonderful, well illustrated book
This is one of our favorite books. Spoiler alert: It concludes that the secret to happiness is being grateful. This is something our family really strives to teach and this book illustrates it beautifully.

Simple truths
Touches the heartstrings with good morality and social grace lessons. Reminds us we are all humanity. Written for the guidance of children, but also useful (and enjoyable) for adults to read and remember.
