k.d. lang - Ingenue Redux: Live from The Majestic Theatre

I latched on to k.d.'s music not long before she released Ingenue and it quickly became one of my favorite CD's to listen to. Her artistry has deepened over time and she has lost nothing in 25+ years. It's wonderful hearing that purity mixed with clarion power, still undiminished. Maturity has added heft to both her frame and her voice and at first it was an adjustment to see her quite heavier than when she recorded the record. But that all faded away once she started singing. She still has that mischievous twinkle in her her eye and witty way of relating to her audience, who adore her. An A-team of singers and instrumentalists as well backing her up, particularly her keyboard player. This concert could be a teaching tool for current pop stars. k.d. doesn't have to rely on vocal acrobatics, histrionics or busy stagecraft to capture her audience. She just delivers the song honestly and effortlessly. This is the work of an artist.

Absolutely brilliant! k.d. was in outstanding form for this concert, the music was fantastic, the venue gorgeous, and picture/sound quality was excellent. This video is essential for lang fans. I gave copies to all my family for Christmas!

Definitely this is a magical experience!!! Playing the complete Ingenue album in a beautiful venue is mindblowing!!! Get it and sit back with a glass of wine and let her take you in this journey!!! HD picture and pristine sound!!!

Ms. Lang is one of my favorites. And this is a great performance filmed in a gorgeous venue. I got lost in it. Time stands still when she performs. If you like her, please get it.

kd lang does not disappoint in this live dvd performance.This is an amazing dvd from an artist that has been around for years.Be prepared to be entertained.

This is a great dvd. Saw it on tv, parts of it and decided I wanted to see all of it. It is worth the money and she does a great job. My husband liked the art work on the cover. The interview was good. First saw her years ago on tv on Super Dave and she was one of the background singers on Roy Orbison's A Black & White Night. Great dvd.

This was a bit boring. It didn't have a strong varity of her vocals. It sounded like she went from one tune straight into another that sounded similar to the last. I've heard far better from K.D. Lang. This isn't one that I would buy again.

If you like k.d Lang, as I, and millions do, you must get this performence in concert at the Majestic Theate in San Antonio. For me, this is k.d. at her sparkling best. Impish flirting with the audience and her superb backing band and singers. Giving her all performing INGENUE in it's entirity (featuring 2 songs that always bring a tear to my eye, they are so beautiful - they are of course "MISS CHATELEINE and CONSTANT CRAVING", but tho they are the jam on my bread, all the songs are sung to perfection, and "HALLELUJAH still hits where it hurts. Beautiful set, simple but impressive. Great sound, and plenty of her charm and her love of her band is clear to see when she chats to them all (for some 10 minutes) halfway through the show. The disc runs for 1 hr 43 mins, excellent picture, photography and sound,and my wife and I watched in two sessions. There are no subtitles which would have been helpful for my wife, but the show is so good it didn't matter too much. (I do wonder what the reaction of someone who didn't know her work at all would think? I would love to believe they would just recognise a superb performer and then go out and buy some of her wonderful Albums!!)

Kd toured to celebrate 25 years since INGENUE was released. She performed the whole album live in the same sequence as on the album . She gave concerts in the USA, Canada and Australia but, sadly, not the UK. Luckily this dvd captures her complete concert at San Antonio with not only all of Ingenue but Hallelujah and other more recent songs. Amazon.com says that the dvd is US region only but through Amazon.co.uk i got this dvd from Switzerland and it was playable in all regions . So it might be best to check which version you are buying. Needless to say she is in fine voice and the concert is FABULOUS.

After originally cancelling a pre order last year because the Region was changed from 0 to 1, which meant I wouldn`t be able to play the DVD in the UK, I kept reading that it did play here. Getting impatient for it`s UK release, I gave in to temptation and ordered it anyway. I am so glad I did. I have loved kd lang since she started her amazing career, & can`t wait to see her UK tour in July this year. I know I won`t be disappointed. In the meantime, I will enjoy this DVD more than once. A glass of wine, lights low and sound bar on............ KDs voice is as beautiful as ever.I found the quality of this DVD excellent and was extremely happy with the early delivery of the product. It arrived in time for my birthday.... very happy indeed.

Having been a fan of KD Lang for many years I was happy to learn that a blu ray was about to be released and when played on a large screen TV with 7.1 surround sound it feels like being in attendance at the gig! Would love to see an Ultra HD Dolby Atmos release but that's probably just being greedy! Next mission: tickets for Kathryn's Glasgow gig in July to see the real thing!
