This watch is definitely not the cheapest watch you can find with these features. If your requirements are the cheapest possible watch that has 200m water resistance, shock resistance, atomic solar capabilities, and all the rest of the benefits of a G-Shock, I would recommend the GWM5610-1. It is the same watch for about a third this price.However, if you can afford it and want a watch with better build quality, go with this japan made G-Shock with a much softer urethane band which makes the watch a pleasure to wear. Another difference between the two watches is the case. The outside to both watches is resin, however the inside of the GWM5610-1 is plastic, and the inside of the GW5000-1jf is stainless steel. The stainless steal also is coated with DLC coating (diamond like carbon) which basically means it's more scratch resistant. It also means the watch will probably last longer to it's plastic counterpart.Now, why a G-Shock? Let's compare this watch to a $1,000 mechanical/automatic watch. You'll probably get a watch which has an accuracy between +/- 4-5 seconds each day, 100m water resistance, a chronograph if you're lucky, and a watch you have to service every 5 years. Now what do we get out of a $320 G-Shock?: A watch with an accuracy of less than 1 second per day (+-15 seconds a month), 200m water resistance, shock resistance, a chronograph, world time, alarms, a stopwatch, atomic time syncing (syncs every day to keep the watch accurate to the atomic tower), solar powered, and no servicing required (a battery replacement might be required every 10-15 years). If you had me choose between a cumbersome expensive watch or a featured, easy to read, shock resistant tank, I'd choose the ladder.So, is this watch worth it? If you want a G-shock but don't want to spend a lot of money, buy the GWM5610-1. The watch also has the durable Casio 3159 module and comes with a one year warranty.The letters and numbers on the watch face are dark black color: clear, crisp and easy to read. I am a big gshock collector. I have 35 gshock watches and 5 Protrek watches. I have the Rangeman gshock. I have the King GXW56-1BJF gshock. The Gsteel smoke dial gshock. I have 4 Mudman gshock watches 2 Gulfman gshocks and the GA 1000-1a Aviation Gshock and the dw5600e -1v and the dw5600e-1 foxfire gshock that my uncle bought for me in Japan. But on the back plate is made in China. I have 5 gshocks from Japan that read Thailand or China. Don't get me wrong all of my gshocks are great and very durable. First Let me tell you. I had the first gshock to hit the market in 1983 .Which was made in Japan back then. I was 21 years old back then. I'm now 55 years old. Now that I'm older. I have been looking at this gw5000-1 jf gshock for over a year. I watched utubevideos. I read all the reviews on Amazon. Mostly all reviews 5 stars. Now I love all gshocks Big or small. I just couldn't see paying that much money for a watch. I love the gwm5610-1 gshock. Which is Solar atomic power. Great watch. I certainly don't need another gshock. I saw it on sale last week. I had a Amazon gift card. So l finally went and bought it. When l received it in the mail. I opened the box and pull it out put it on. I was shocked how comfortable and balance it was on my 7 inch wrist. The watch has a silicone band that is very compfortable. T he watch has a Dlc coating stainless steel back plate. Reads made in Japan. This watch is a true Old school Classic. But with solar atomic power. I'm glad I bought this watch. I was lucky to get it for such a great price. This watch is a great watch that will last a lifetime. Everything on the watch is made in Japan. I would recommend this watch to a gshock collector that knows quality. Now if your new to gshock watches. I recommend the gwm5610-1 g shock you can get that $90.00 on Amazon. Good luck on any Gshock watch you buy. Remember the best watch is the one on your Wrist. I have owned a number of Casio watches, mainly Edifice and G-shocks. This GW-5000 is overall a great everyday watch, it fits virtually any occasion and it’s a nice beater watch as well.I really like the steel case and the DLC screwback on this model, it’s very reflective but not shiny. However it tends to collects fingerprints too easily.The resin strap is honestly very soft to the touch and remarkably flexible compares to other models, even more flexible than the ones with carbon fibre reinforced straps that I own.The display is fairly clear and easy to read, and the back light is adequate, for the price range. But not comparable to the STN displays on the GMWB series, which costs almost twice the price.The weight of the watch is very light compares to Edifice series and even most other G-shocks. But a little heavier than the full resin GWM or DW series. So if you’re looking for a super lightweight G-SHOCK then this one might not be the best.Radio reception and solar charging works as they should, no problem with that.The only con I can think of is that I wish it comes with a metal keeper on this model instead of a regular resin keeper but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Overall, it’s a great G-Shock, recommended.

Precise. Sturdy. Durable. I wear it all the time and don't bother with my luxury watches much (😔). It is my day-to-day since forced to work from home over a year ago. The only flaw is the functionality and the small buttons. Aside from that, what a lovely watch!
