The Martian Codex: More Reflections from Mars
J**.
Book arrived quickly and in excellent condition.
I just don't believe this. "Reflected" images, in which one side is the mirror image of the other side, can look like faces or other symmetrical things. That doesn't mean anything to me. It's a weird way of forcing something to look like an "obvious" image of something important, but it just seems totally unbelievable. I don't mind that someone wrote a book showing all these examples, but I am not convinced. Others may be convinced, or may want to consider this material, and for that reason, I may sell my book back in the future. No harm done.

A good read, but a bit subjective.
Well, a good read. But analysis lacked depth. I enjoyed it and will be getting Mr. Haas's other previous book.

Compelling Evidence for Further Exlporation of Mars
An August 2012 front page article in the Wall Street Journal led me to this book detailing many potential structures found on Mars. The book's authors have examined years of images from Mars and the book contains many photos of what appear to be built structures on the surface. While one can see all kinds of images in a cloud, the degree to which several of the strucures resemble structures and drawings found on Earth is uncanny and difficult to explain. As NASA's Curiosity sends back more information from Mars, I found this book a good read that made me seek a better understanding of the red planet's history.

Great Book!
I found this book to be extremely informative. The pictures were great and the author was clear about his position. I have read many books on this subject but I have never heard such compelling evidence with hard facts then I have in this book. I would recommend book to anyone interested in the subject and not because once you start to read it, if you weren't interested before .. you will be interested now!

Pretty Good
The authors propose that the surface of Mars is covered in what appears to be Mayan/Aztec glyphs. I give them credit for showing side-by-side photos of the actual rock formations along with extremely detailed drawings done by George Haas, one of the authors. Although I can't always agree that the 2 versions match (rock + sketch), I have to admit they get it right about 75% of the time. There's so much more we need to learn about this enigmatic red planet out there!

Makes you think.
Written well and offering exceptional alternative ideas, this book is entertaining and makes you think twice about what Mars is all about. Since no one here on Earth in this time frame has been there, its up to the photos of the things on the planet surface, which is filled with more questions than answers. If you like or have interest in Mars, you should read this book and make your own formative choices that seem right to you.

A convincing example of Pareidolia...
Although I don't regret my purchase and the book is otherwise rather well done, the thing that sprang to my mind while reading it was... "Wow! The authors smoke too much of illicit substances while writing their book!" This is my overall impression. Basically, what they do is searching through countless NASA photos of Mars surface, and then, when noticing something that remind them of a face (in fact the half of a face), they apply a mirror effect on it, and here it is: a huge face sculpted (or built) on Mars surface. And there are also shapes that remind them of meso-american pre-colombian art. First of all, I generally don't see anything where they see marvelous works of art full of intricate details. There are two or maybe three exceptions, but when you see these exceptions, you see an obvious half-face (not a full one) amidst endless hills and mountains, without roads around them nor remains of ancient structures. Then, there are (as they see it, since I generally don't see it myself) some areas carved to represent animals. The most obvious one is a parrot, likewise lost amidst hills and mountains without anything else around. Now I ask you: what are the probabilities that life (assuming life existed on Mars) evolved the exact same animals on Mars that exist on Earth?? Even with the same basic DNA, different animals would have developed over billions of years, not deers, parrots, jaguars, and such. Then, there was something that looked convincing p.50: in the Cydonia region, a pyramid with five sides plus an extension, that exactly matches the surface plan of the Pentagon and some kind of garden in front of it (as seen from a satellite). At first I thought: "Ah yes, there is something troubling there..." But not for long. A close up of the photo doesn't reveal any pyramid, but some kind of natural hill with a vague pyramidal shape. Then, on one side of the pyramid is a darker area (like an outcropping of sand and rock) and the authors see a meso-american moon-goddess with a large headdress there. Not only I don't see it myself, but it would make no sense at all to build one on the pyramid's face if it had been done by intelligent beings (human-like apparently). So in the end, when I look at all that they show and affirm, I am flabbergasted and think that they must have fallen on their head (or having been on illicit substances) when writing their book. Verdict: the face on Mars is but a shapeless amount of rocks. The book was still an interesting read nonetheless.
