End-to-End Encryption Security Camera – E23

I ordered the Haicam 23 model camera for the purpose of checking on my dog while I'm at work. Having never heard of Haicam, I was reluctant at first but I'm glad I made the purchase! I went with the higher end model as going cheep you always end up with the regret of not paying a little extra to get all the bells and whistles.Pros:1. easy to set up, just download the app to your phone or computer, scan the bar code and presto you can spy on your loved ones with ease.2. the camera has night vision which is quite impressive for the camera not being marketed for commercial use3. the resolution is excellent, of course this varies by your resolution settings and internet speed4. it also acts as a motion detector and sends alerts if there is movement. you can further set up to record at those times5. it records to the cloud6. you can control the camera to tilt up, down, left and right. I found this to be very beneficial7. it comes with its own encryptionCons1. This is merely a concern the manufacture needs to address with their packaging department. I received the box delivered by Amazon. when I opened the box the camera box came damaged, this of course is a concern, however once I opened the entire packaging I found the camera to contain excellent packing protection around the camera. As you can see from my Pros above it did not hinder the function of the camera.The camera in my book is a keeper and a very excellent purchase in my book! Haicam keep up the great work!

I really wanted to love this camera, primarily because of the end-to-end encryption aspect. However the app makes the camera functionally usesless and not worth the buy.The app doesn't "fast-forward" and instead just skips ahead 10, 30, 60 seconds. Which isn't the same when you're trying to see something specific. The app also loads incredibly slowly to the point of ineffectiveness--you're not notified of someone at the door until 4 minutes later (sometimes longer), if you open the app, it takes forever to load, even after restarting your phone, clearing cache, closing other apps. It constantly says "standby," sometimes for MINUTES at a time. The event section is incredibly slow to update.Basic use example: you get an alert at 10:14AM that someone was spotted. You open the app, no one is there. It takes multiple minutes to load beyond the live stream. You go to the event page which takes another minute or two to load. It tells you someone is spotted at 10:09. You don't want to spend a full minute watching every second of the film. You to the ffwd for 10 seconds. Don't see anyone. Go back to 10:09:01, takes a while to load, have to watch the full minute to see someone walk by your door.It also will show a bar for activity. But that bar can show multiple minutes. So it's you either have to spend 3 minutes watching every second or hope the 10 or 30 second skips actually show them. You'll spend more time trying to find what the camera actually saw than you'll want.Also the night mode is awful and switches too early in the evening and too late in the morning, so it's basically bright outside when it switches and the camera captures nothing.

Usage: We use the camera to assist us in monitoring the safety of an elderly parent who is a fall hazard. We will employ two more in our basement to monitor my safety when wood working.Good points: Easy to set up and start using. Well made quality product. Outstanding picture quality in daylight and at night (dark room). The data stream is encrypted, reducing the chance of someone hacking into the camera and viewing the video coming from the camera. The AI for triggering alarms (notifications) works very well. Customer service is very responsive and friendly.Some cons: The instructions that come with the camera could have some additional information. For example, how to add other viewing devices; micro SD size supported and formatting procedures for cards in excess of 32 GB.The camera is also slow to respond to panning commands (pretty normal for most of the cameras I have seen).Overall, it is an excellent purchase for the price and I will be purchasing more for use in my basement wood shop. I recommend this camera.

I purchased this camera to keep an eye on my dogs when I'm away from home. It was very easy to set up! It has especially come in handy when I'm on vacation. Since I use a pet sitter when I'm on vacation, I loved being able to verify how things were going. I definitely made use of the 24-hr cloud storage. However, I have not tried using the SD card storage. For the price point, this is a great camera! The video (including night vision), sound, & picture quality are pretty good. I did wish the "Arm Away" option would automatically pan when it detects motion. However, you are able to manually do that when checking in on the current recording.

The video quality of the camera is actually pretty good, but local SD card storage is broken and the app isn’t much to be desired. After a certain amount of storage on the SD card, it stops storing video and needs reformatted to start again. The app also makes navigating the storage very cumbersome and not very easy to do. If you’re looking for a camera to just view things real-time, perhaps this would work, but storage is broken which is why I bought the camera.

This is a very secured cam.That said, there are a few problems.There is no color night vision.There is no zoom that I can see.And whenever detected, humans, etc. are identified as a person, etc.in small red tags that gets in the way of the whole pic on the screen.
