Rock64 Wood Zebra Case for The ROCK64 Media Board ~ C4Labs

I had a question about other product offerings and C4 responded to me quickly and with a plethora of information. Huge fan of C4 labs offerings. This case fits the Rock64 like a glove and looks great on it.

This is a really nice design and I'm quite happy with it. It's a little daunting when you open the package and see how many pieces there are, but it's actually pretty simple. Two things though. First, the assembly diagram kind of looks like at least one assembly screw goes through one of the pcb mounting holes; it does not. Second is that I had to slightly file one of the wood pieces because it didn't clear the solder points on the Ethernet port LEDs. Minor issues, and I still give it a five.

There aren't a lot of cases for the ROCK64 so just making one was really appreciated. This case is really simple and really artful. All pieces are laser cut and fit together in slices. The kit comes with little rubber feet and heat sinks for the ROCK64 board.There is a hole for pushing the recovery button.The bezel pieces around the power/hdmi/audio out ports are delicate and one piece of Plexiglas broke because the cut was so tight. I don't really count that as a ding on C4 Labs and Dustin and I was mishandling that piece. The only thing keeping this from being a 5-star rating is that there is no way to access the power and reset buttons on the board. I rarely if ever use them so not a big deal, but some folks might need that. Also, the overall width of the case seems like it might have needed to be a couple millimeters wider to make the plastic a little more strength.It is obvious that Dustin at C4 Labs put a lot of time into the design and obsessed over the aesthetics. It shows. I hope he extends his work to other Single Board Computers that are under-served. (Picture shown with my personal heat-sinks, not the ones that came with the kit.)
