This is a German-engineered pencil. I usually like only either Japanese or German stationaries. The only difference is usually Japanese are great and affordable while the German ones are great yet costly.I couldn't find a Japanese pencil that is as good as this one. Camlin pencils do the job but the artwork fades within days. Staedtler Mars artworks last foreverI use 2H primarily for grids and rough outlines. in addition to this, you may need to purchase other pencils like H, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B. You may skip other grades because most of the time you can get the other grades from the existing only itself. There are two types of 8B one is very dark and the other is normal dark. You may buy only dark called as [Black]. Don't buy the box that has one pencil from all shades. I find it useless. Most of the time your 2H doesn't get over even after 100 artwork but your 8B gets over in single artwork. Meeting expectations

Ordered a pack of 2H, got sent a pack of 4H. Won't linger on that, though, since theses are fantastic drawing and sketch pencils. Top is the current design, bottom is the older one from decades past. They're great pencils; they just usually run from $1-2 per, so it can get rather expensive to only use these for your drawings. Slightly (not a lot) weightier than the old variations but carry the same category of high-quality lead that is nearly impossible to break unless you're deliberately dropping it.

Great for drafting, or as I use them, tally-marking Strat-O-Matic games

These pencils are great for sketching. The harder graphite makes the pencil put down lighter lines which are easier to erase. Very useful for avoiding unwanted ghost lines from initial sketches
