Best pocket / hip folding knife I have ever owned!
The Gerber folding Gator #6069 is the best folding knife I have ever owned. I have carried one for probably 20 years by now and my original knife is still as good as new. I have used it to gut trout, small animals, pheasant, etc. It has also assisted me in skinning deer and elk.The blade is sharp and easy to re-sharpen. I prefer the straight edge on this model because it is easier to sharpen than a serrated edge. The rubberized grip is sure and secure. Even with blood soaked hands it is easy to grasp and will not slip. The lock blade is secure and has never failed even when being forced through elk cartilage. The sheath is very well made with a fully sewn belt loop (no loop snap to come apart). The sheath has never failed me even when crashing (yes, crashing) through heavy brush and trees.I purchased three of these as Christmas presents for our kids this year and I also used the opportunity to get myself a second Gerber Gator for my bug out bag.I have had many blades over the years but my top three blades to cover all senarios is a Condor Golok machete, an Aitor Oso Negro Spanish Military Knife and the Gerber Gator. With the exception of building a log cabin, these three blades cover everything. However, the Gerber Gator is the one I carry and use the most because it is a mid-size, convenient folding knife suitable to wear around town in all settings as well as out on the trail. The price is also very fair and is now a great value due to it's age. Many of the new knives may look "tactical" but are no match for the function and performance of the Gator in practical use.Go ahead..... Buy it! You'll be happy you did.

Amazing knife!!!
I received one of these knives in 2005 as a gift. I carried it with me to work, hunting, just about everywhere. It was the best knife I ever had. Somehow I lost it in moving and couldn't find one to replace it. I looked everywhere. It has been almost 20 years and many knives later and I finally found this knife again. The grip on this thing is perfect. It dosent slip or hurt your hand. The blade is wicked sharp, never an issue cutting things. It will be with me on many more hunts and other jobs.

My favorite!
I carried one of these for almost 20 years. I used it constantly. My ex hid it from me when we split and I have missed it terribly. I ordered this, not knowing it was the same, just hoping it was close. I was absolutely thrilled to open it and find the same knife! I have small hands and it fits my grip perfectly, but also fits larger hands as well. The handle material is awesome, wet or dry, no way this will slip. It is durable, showed no signs of wear even as many years as I carried it.

Well Made/Good Grip
I wanted a sturdy folding knife for hiking and camping. I researched a lot of knives and kept coming back to this one. I was a little concerned that the 420HC blade might not hold up well, but this has turned out to be one of my better purchases. It has enough chrome in it so I don't need to worry about rust, like my two 1095 knives, but it's balanced with the right amount of carbon to make this knife very sturdy. It maintains a sharp edge even with heavy use. The handle is well made and the grip is "meaty". It won't slip from my hand. I had also been concerned about the hinge part of the knife. The downside of folding knives for outdoor use is that the hinge is the weak point. So far, this knife has held up well. I bought the fine edge without serration because it's just darn easier to sharpen. The down side to a serrated edge is having to sharpen each tooth/serration. Not fun. The blade length is perfect for hiking and camping. Anything larger would seem kind of creepy when day hiking. The shorter blade really is more practical. This is a good knife. Buy it.

Favorite Hunting Knife
This past hunting season, I lost part of my pack with my favorite hunting knife inside while tracking a deer. I have gone back and looked many times, but to no avail! When I looked in the usual stores to buy another one, it seems that none of them carry this particular model anymore. Only the newer designs, which I don't really care for, as most have a serrated edge. Anyway, when I found the clip point Gerber Gator on Amazon, I was thrilled and ordered it right away. Now I have my favorite knife back, and in a different pack that won't get lost. This knife is absolutly perfect, as it's light weight, it folds, it locks open, it has a rubber like handle making it easy to grip, even with wet hands, it really holds an edge, and when it does need sharpening, which is seldom, it's not too hard to get it back to a razor's edge.
