MURAKAMI HARUKIAfter Dark [Paperback] Murakami, Haruki

Painting of Murakami using the colors of words!
Two teen sisters, one teen boy, a lady manager, a work person, one poor Chinese beaten teen girl and a confusing, confused narrator. How could all their destinies be crossed in one single night!? What happens at night where the place never rests? Is night the beauty of world or the trick of some witch? Too many questions, too many answers (only to those who seek and admire)! It's just the brief introduction of Haruki Murakami's 'After Dark'. Every thing I mentioned above are those I experienced. I'm sure other readers may find this still more dark, still more deep and still more philosophical. The best part of the book is that the author hasn't forced his characters to speak. Their silence, too, has words. The silence lingers in their surroundings and the readers' atmosphere. But when they talk, their words weigh more. The characters sometimes appear to be the puppets of the time yet we recognise the strings of them are in their hands.'After Dark' is undoubtedly the best work till date that I led my hands on. It raises some profound questions that we never ask just because we are aware the answers are harsh. It looks like the painting of Murakami on the canvas of pages with the vivid colors of words.I haven't come across an author who has the rich vocabulary and unmatchable imagination. I'm really looking forward to read his famous works like 'Kakfa on the Shore' and 'Norwegian Wood'!Do go for it if you like to sit and think about the incidents after reading a page rather than skimming over the pages.

One of the best Murakami books
"𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞. 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭."Night-time Tokyo is captured through a camera lens; it’s forever gazing on the symbolic surface level of the character’s existences, through which Murakami slowly begins to reveal inner workings. But he never comes to any conclusions. One can only glimpse and peer in. As the hour approaches even closer to dawn, you see a little bit more.Set over the course of a single night with central themes of alienation and longing in a vast metropolis involving two young sisters, a musician, the employee of a love hotel and an office night worker who has committed a vicious assault. As ever nothing is straightforward and unexplained events are never answered with everything left hanging in the air, literally!, but that's what is great here as Murakami has cast a spell over us and it's up to the reader to draw their own conclusions.Long drawn out dialogue that reveals much about the characters and how they perceive the world and each other. And it’s intense at times and it really pulls you into the story. This really isn’t a novel to be rushed. This is a novel to be savoured and appreciated.Highly recommended."𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐲! 𝐈𝐭'𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐰𝐞'𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐟𝐟. 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫."

Page turner
Not the best of Murakami but amazing book in itself. Being a musical and a night owl, I enjoyed it very much and finished it in a single night.

A quick read book
The book delves into philosophical topics, but there are many aspects which keep hangings at the end of the book. I expected that book will be able to answer few questions about the trait of some character, but it disappoints in the end.

Soul soothing
Murakami brings his ‘two worlds’ magic into after dark.Without revealing much, its set in Tokyo and is about two sisters. It definitely makes you imagine Japan ever so vividly. If youre a first time Murakami reader, hands down After Dark is a great introduction to his writing style. He merges lives and worlds in a way that leaves one mesmerised. Its a quick read, can get a little intense but very soul soothing.

Hypnotizing Novel! Murakami never disappoints!
The condition of the book was better than expected. The story is impressive and gives the feeling of the lonely Tokyo nights. However, the ending was not good, I could have rated the book 5-stars but the ending could have got better, so 4stars for now.

A classic Murakami but face-paced.
Cats, parallel existence, magical realism and lots of food and jazz. This Murakami is one of my most favourite of all of his works. It has an aura in the story and its surroundings. I enjoyed each minute of reading and deciphering it. Read it.

One of murakami's best books I've read so far, intrinsic of a dreamlike reality when the nightime city seems to work by its own rules
