Just brilliant. - This was a great read. Told over a couple of timescales, we eventually find out what happened to Tallulah and Zack. In 2017, they go out together for a rare date. They are parents to baby Noah but their relationship is coming to an end. At least for Tallulah. At 11pm Tallulah send a text to her mum who is babysitting, to let her know that they are going on to a friends house. That is the last communication from them. In 2018, Sophie and her boyfriend Shaun have just moved into a cottage in school grounds of a private school that Shaun will be headteacher of. Theirs is a relatively new relationship and Sophie is unsure whether she has done the right thing. She writes a successful cosy crime series under a pseudonym, which she can do from anywhere. She is unhappy therefore when the move stops her from continuing her next book. While on a walk she sees a cardboard sign that tells her to dig. The events of the two years start to collide as Sophie tries to find out exactly what happened to Tallulah and Zack. This was a great mystery with fabulous characters. The character of Scarlett was brilliant. She was an enigmatic character that drew people to her. Her friends just didn’t seem able to distance themselves from her. This was such a well plotted read. Lisa Jewell is brilliant at running two stories together but this plot had three. I wasn’t confused at all so the writing must have been superb. I loved the twists that you expect from this genre but it didn’t stop twisting until the end. Definitely one of her better books in my opinion. Review: Good bedtime read - Good read

Hooked!
If you love thrillers that keep you guessing, The Night She Disappeared is a fantastic choice. Lisa Jewell delivers a great plot filled with twists, secrets, and suspense that will have you flipping pages late into the night. The story follows Tallulah, a young mother who vanishes after a night out with her boyfriend. A year later, a mystery writer moves into a nearby cottage and discovers a strange sign that reads “Dig Here.” As past and present timelines weave together, long-buried secrets begin to unravel, leading to shocking revelations. I loved the characters, especially Tallulah and her determined mother, Kim. Their emotions feel raw and real, making their journey even more gripping. The multiple perspectives and timelines are handled seamlessly, adding layers of depth to the mystery. The writing is easy to read, yet immersive, making this book a good page-turner. Jewell’s storytelling keeps the tension high, and just when you think you have it all figured out, another twist emerges. I highly recommend The Night She Disappeared to anyone who enjoys dark, atmospheric thrillers with well-developed characters and a mystery that keeps you hooked until the very last page.

Psychological crime thriller full of twists and turns keeping you hooked!
Absolutely loved this book. From the moment I began reading I was hooked. It’s set in 5 parts and the story is told alternatively in the present and past, gradually giving the reader more knowledge and answers. Once the past meets with the present, a lot of questions are answered but it still leaves the reader anticipating why is going to happen next. This book was full of tension and suspense, it was dark and had me eagerly reading through each chapter. I have always loved Lisa Jewell’s writing style and this book in my eyes, is one of her best. Once I’d got about 20% in, I ended up finishing it in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down. I especially love how it misleads you in places and makes you think you know what’s happening or happened, then a surprise twist comes to play and you realise how wrong you were. The character development throughout the book was superb! You start with one view of the main characters and by the end, you have a completely different view, which unravels at a perfect pace within its chapters. I particularly liked the end and the surprise twist of one character and his motives/part they deceivingly played within the plot! I highly recommend this book to readers of psychological, crime thrillers. It’s full of twists and turns which keeps you hooked. Another 5 star read from the amazing Lisa Jewell!

One of the best from Lisa Jewell
The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell is well known as one of her best mystery thrillers. I have read several novels by Lisa Jewell now and I was looking forward to reading this one so I gave it a go via audiobook. Young parents Tallulah and Zach go missing after a night out with friends and the dual timeline follows their relationship and life before their disappearance and afterwards, the police investigation and continued search for the young pair, mainly from the perspectives of Tallulah's mother Kim and Sophie, who is a new resident to the area and finds herself drawn in to the case. Whilst dual timeline isn't usually for me, I did really enjoy this juxtaposition between life before and after, and the multiple narrators and perspectives. I thought the characters were very layered and with each chapter you slowly unravel more about the disappearance. It was a very successful thriller that definitely kept me guessing right up until the end. I do think parts of the ending were rushed and left some plot holes but for the most part everything was uncovered. What I enjoy about Lisa Jewell is how she manages to weave multiple threads through the plot that all tie up at the end, even the most insignificant seeming details. I would highly recommend Lisa Jewell if you enjoy mystery thrillers, and her best novels are usually disappearances in my opinion. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5

I like all of LJ's thrillers (especially Watching You, which is a masterpiece) but this might be the best of all. Intricately constructed plot and a real puzzler, a great read. Hats off!
