The special is a incredibly solid fountain pen with a steal nib. European style these tend to be a little bit broader and wetter than their Japanese counter parts. The special is a decided upgrade from the Kaweco sport. Its longer body, makes it less likely to be lost, a problem I've frequently had with the smaller, plastic pens.Despite the increase in size the Special is well balanced, and made of a light weight aluminum. So it is not a decidedly heavier feeling pen. The octagonal body is shaped a bit like a common #2 pencil, though significantly thicker. I've found it quite comfortable when held at the rounded collar around the nib unit, or higher up on the body. The cap is screw on, and while the threads are not particularly smooth, they aren't cutting or particularly abrasive. As a nice bonus, the back end of the body is machined with threads as well, so you can post the cap without worrying about loosing it.The nib extra-fine nib is slightly scratchy (less so than many steal extra-fine nibs), but puts out a decent amount of ink. The extra-fine is noticeably finer than the a Kaweco sport with a fine nib. While the nib unit is aluminum, with a shorter shape than that of the sport, the nib and feed for both are the same, so if you've written with a Kaweco sport before, you will find the experience very similar.I use fountain pens as a tool for knowledge capture. Its the only thing that makes my writing legible. I have found the Kaweco sport to be one of my most used fountain pens, and the Special is a decided upgrade. I am sure that this pen will be part of my daily kit, and given the build of the pen, it will probably out last me.

The seller thinks this is a fountain pen. For me, this looks like toothpaste for dogs other than nothing.

I absolutely love this pen. My favorite fountain pen that I own by a long shot. It doesn't dry out and is ready to go every time. Build quality and styling are excellent in addition to the smooth writing.

Wonderful pen, just what I was looking for.

Ein sehr schöner Füller für den tagtäglichen Einsatz. Habe noch einen wunderbaren von Faber-Castell, aber der ist mir fast zu schade für den rauhen Alltagseinsatz.Der Kaweco fühlt sich sehr wertig an, liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Die Feder breiter als beim Faber-Castell. Das EF entspricht dem F bei Faber-Castell.Gleitet sehr gut über's Blatt.Ich verwende ihn am häufigsten mit meinem X47. Das tolle der Kawecotinte, im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen: sie schlägt bei dem 60 g/m2-Paier des X47 A6 nicht durch!Der Füller sehr robust, und mit sehr angenehmer Größe.Unbedingt den Federklipp dazubestellen, ich hatte noch einen in Silber übrig.

This fountain pen is just one of my favorites. Elegant, clean and writes perfectly. Ink doesn't dry out after weeks or months without use. The nib writes easily seconds after inserting the first cartridge. If your handwriting is small, go for the EF nib.
