My Story

Have heard so much about this controversial Malayalam writer especially when well known actress turned down the role in an autobiographical film. So was keen to know why. This woman through her writing shook up the patriarchal society of Kerala in unexpected ways. And the book provides that background in a well written piece of work. I find her short stories much more compelling.

Always intrigued by this novel. It is good to know a biography by a woman in the 70s. Good read.

The book has perfect quality go for it

Who am i to judge this woman? She lived like a wounded Queen. The account is as real as the writer's firsthand experience itself. How can someone portray so beautifully, so naturally their predicaments, desires, hungers and dilemmas! Her poetic sense is 'perfect'. She's got a metaphor for everything! You name it. The book, however, ends in her mid 40's when in fact, she lived till the age of 75. That's understandable since it's an autobiography but the reader is left craving for more. As for Kindle, this was my first ever book purchased solely on Kindle. It's good how there's a facility to highlight passages. But the dictionary is not that good, it will sometimes redirect you to the Wikipedia of that word, hence not crisp enough and you can't even scroll down without being taken to another page sometimes. Rest is good- the jumping between pages, bird's eye view are very convenient. I finished reading the book on Kindle in 3 days which would have been the time taken by them to deliver a hard copy.Despite being a sucker for paperback, I might just read some more books on Kindle.

Always knew her as a poet, but her story makes me awe struck. Hats of to the bold women from Kerala.

A must read

To be honest, I was fascinated by the cover picture shown on the Amzon. Thats why I bought it. But the book cover which i received is different from what shown on Amazon. its okay. I have read this before but i wanted to have personal copy.

It's a must-read.

Came in time in very good condition. Will use it again and would recommend to anyone.

Although more suited for women readers with intimate descriptions and personal details that most middle class married women can probably relate to, I, as a man still found the writing so gripping and read the whole thing in two sittings..
