FASCINATING AND QUITE MOVING, IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE GERMAN
Being half German, specifically northeastern Germany where the Romans were never able to conquer, I was utterly fascinated with this document by Tacitus who was a contemporary Roman scholar and had done his research on these tribes. It is short unfortunately, but I knew this, but it is still incredible that it has survived after all these centuries. What impressed me was the level of honour that the Germanic tribes displayed, and how important family was to them. How, for instance, they were monogamous, and how much they feared the capture and enslavement of their women. So much has changed, they aren't the same people, how terribly sad. Germany has been invaded very recently by millions of foreigners, and vast majority of them just stand there they, letting it happen, as if they deserve to be destroyed.
