52mm Flower Petal Lens Hood for Canon 50mm F/1.8d, Nikon D40/d40x/d50/d60/, Nikon Af-s Dx 18-55mm, Nikon Af-s Dx 18-55mm Vr, Nikon 50mm F/1.8d, Nikon 50mm F1.4d

Fits my Nikon D40x perfectly! Makes my photos so much better with lighting. The downfall is I am not able to open the lens fully when taking photos because the hood is in the photos or leaves a shadow on objects when taking photos.

I put this on my Nikkor f/1.8D 50mm and you can see the petal ends in your photos if they are not exactly coming from the top and sides... they will show as very blurry edges in your photo.Another problem with this is that it does not screw on exactly to where the petals are exactly at the top and sides on my Nikkor f/1.8D 50mm.No biggie... I just bring it back a tad on the thread and it's fine.One bonus of having a flower petal lens hood, though, is being able to stash your camera and lens into a bag and not worry about not having an actual lens cover (unless you have small loose items in said bag).

Ii bought this because I thought having a petal shaped lens on a Canon 50 1.8 would be pretty funny and I was right. What I didn't expect was that I ended up liking this option better than the official Canon hood. The only downside is that this is a screw on type hood so you need to be careful about both alignment of the hood to prevent unnecessary vignetting and storage of the lens in bag to prevent the hood from bumping into things and damaging the lens. Neither of those are really significant issues though. For the price, this hood is a no brainer for the Canon 50 1.8.

I ordered this almost 2 years ago and I still use it occasionally. I left it in a bag a few weeks back and it finally cracked (on one side), but it still works and isn't noticeable unless you're actually holding and looking onto it. It's an 'okay' product if you're not looking to spend a lot on a name brand lens hood.

I got this for my Nikon 50mm lens. The hood just does not screw on well on my lens. The plastic ring that locks down the lens to the hood does not hold under stress so I found that the hood twist constantly so I am stuck re-adjusting it constantly. So I have thrown it in the closet and not used since the first tad I ordered. I purchased another hood from somewhere else.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. It is cheap, but on this you get even less quality then you have paid for.Thanks

This little guy does just what I need it to on my Canon 50mm f/1.8. Nothing fancy, you get what you pay for. The finish on the inside of the hood is a little rough, you can clearly see the little spots they used to fill the plastic mold. Otherwise, I have zero complaints about this hood.

Hood works great but...lens cap fits kinda' "funky" and often pops off unexpectedly. Doesn't pop off without the hood.

Works well, but next time I think I'll get a reversible one.
